Former AD O'Day: "We probably should have moved up"

Several years ago, when there was some discussion about moving to the FBS, I believe most of the interest at the time, was the WAC Conference. Although, I realize that today a change to the FBS would likely be more of a challenge due to enrollment issues, it would be of interest to know the bottom line of a move to the Mountain West Conference. Of course I’m aware that a general will for a move to FBS doesn’t exist today, that could change depending on many factors, including NCAA changes that may be forthcoming. It would be wise to have a plan with possible options rather than attempting to react to surprise announcements with limited or no options.

I meant every word I said. I know who he is. Many of Everett’s posts are stupid, like his last one (where he lied). He doesn’t understand football or Griz football.

No, your post was completely incorrect. O'Day didn't say in that interview that UM should have moved up. I have now listened to the interview 3 times, and that's not what he said. You lied. Also, O'Day was not in favor of moving up then. He believed that UM was at the right spot at the time, as did Engstrom. The consultant did not make a recommendation as to what UM should do at the time. The consultant did say the UM was not like most other FCS programs, in that UM was further along with more resources. I just had beers with O'Day. I know what he thought and thinks. I'm on a roll today. I ran into and talked to Tripp at lunch. I've also been emailing Joe Moglia. He used to coach at Dartmouth in the 80's. He's speaking on NIL and the transfer portal at the national AD's convention tomorrow. I told him I'd pass along some of O'Day's views.
