I am rooting for NDSU for one reason: Their O-line and D-lines and key position players aren't loaded with SEC transfer mercenaries, but 5-year players who came up through the NDSU system. Jacksonville State is the SHSU of the east coast. Sets a very bad precedent, IMHO, if they were to win.

I’m neither for the University of North Dakota State University (UNDSU) nor against ‘em. I don’t care about them. But I think they will lose for the following reasons:

1. The pressure of going for three titles in a row (which would tie App State's record) will be too much for them. They will crack under that pressure.

2. They are distracted by the name change from Thunder-Buffs (or “T-Buffs,” if you will) to Fighting Hawks.

3. They are not playing in the friendly confines of the Alerus Center, where they are so difficult to beat, and where the noise from those 11,000 fans is so deafening. They will look like mere mortals when they are far away from Grand Forks.

4. Their offense will have to score more points than the other team’s offense. The other team has a pretty good offense. UNDSU will control the clock 90 minutes to 10, but in those ten minutes Jacksonville State will score 45 points. Wait, that’s too many minutes. Oh well, you do the math conversion. I’m too drunk.

5. Garson Vents will be nervous in front of the 6347 NFL scouts who are there to see how he plays when he’s nervous.

6. UNDSU has lost 17% of last year’s fan base due to coronary-related disease and death. That 17% comprised the loudest segment of fans. The Decibel-Meter is down exactly 17%, according to the guy on ESPN whose only job is to hold the Decibel-Meter at UNDSU games.

7. No ESPN Game Day. But ESPN loves you anyway, UNDSU.

Well, considering I live in Sidney and am literally on the front lines of the battle versus obnoxious, over-the-top NDSU fans every friggin' day I am totally and unequivocally against them. I am sick and tired of seeing their ugly yellow and green colors all over the place and listening them drone on and on how great they are. I wish we hadn't played them in the playoffs so I would have had bragging rights until the next time we played, which could have been years. They quieted down during the regular season after we beat them at Wa-Griz but boy have they piped up the past two weeks. It is well past time for someone, anyone, to end their run of titles and I will be rooting for Jacksonville State to do it!

Is this statement based on your interactions with Bison fans on fan forum websites, or based on your personal experiences with Bison fans in Missoula this past August or in Fargo last September and this December? 99% of Griz fans who actually interacted with Bison fans during the past three meetings between our teams, had only positive things to say.

As far as being confident and having pride in NDSU's team, I don't know why this comes as a surprise, given the past history of this program. We (the fanbase) expect NDSU to win every week because we feel NDSU is the best FCS program in the country', have the best homefield advantage in the FCS, and have the best coaching staff in the country. You know what fan base, for more or less the past 20 years, has acted the same way? The fanbase of the Griz. When Griz fans say they have the best program in the FCS, have the best stadium in the FCS, and brag about Stitt, I could care less. You should be confident in your program.

I reluctantly have to agree with you, we are FULL of arrogant fans, when the reality is we haven't really been a "contender" since Robin Pflugrad's last year at the helm. We haven't been a champion in a decade plus, but we'll get back to that level soon enough.

I have been a Griz fan for more than 60 years. Except on a couple of rare occasions, I have never EXPECTED the Griz to win a game; I always HOPED they would win or thought there was a GOOD CHANCE they would win or believed they OUGHT to win ... but I have almost never been so arrogant as to EXPECT them to win. I think there is a difference.

I have been a Griz fan for more than 60 years. IMHO, the fans who don't expect their team to win games are the fans who let programs sink into mediocrity. Not trying to sound like an asshole but the programs who have long term success in this country, are the programs who have fans who expect their program to win.

I don't think finishing second will single an end of dominance or demise of NDSU. No playoff team from this year will return as many starters as NDSU next year. I have a feeling next year's NDSU team could be really special.

I don't think finishing second will single an end of dominance or demise of NDSU. No playoff team from this year will return as many starters as NDSU next year. I have a feeling next year's NDSU team could be really special.

I don't think it is going to hurt the program if they get beat or help any other programs if they get beat. I sure don't want them to get beat though. I enjoying seeing history being made.
