So something you read. Was thinking it was a statement about last season. The Bobcats didn't look like they belonged versus SDSU in the semis and I haven't seen anything to think their defense has vastly improved. Sounds like the three coaches being arrested won't have any effect on their season since there will likely be no recourse for their actions. I do think the Griz have improved in several areas, including coaching, and will be right there when the dust settles. Makes sense why Colter doesn't want to question the MSU coverup if he believes the cats are a contender and he is their reporter.

I get it, we all hate the cats, but to not acknowledge that they are contenders is just foolish. SDSU is much better than everyone. But after them NDSU and MSU are def the most rational choices.

The Griz could be up there but we have so many unknowns. You tout unknowns as facts. We dont know if our coaching situation is better. We dont know if we have a QB. We THINK we have a very good QB for multiple years, but until he shows us we dont know.

We know we will have a good defense and Oline and RBs. Thats about all that is KNOWN about the 23 Griz.

The Bobcats have a KNOWN star at QB coming back. They have a proven oline and offensive plan that works. Their defense is always middle of the pack to good, but it doesnt matter because of the way their offense works. Theyre never down big, and the offense is always grinding down teams. They are very beatable, but they never beat themselves. Lets not act like we wouldnt like to be in their situation as far as known roster spots go.
What unknowns did I state as facts? You mean the overt "I think..." parts where I proceeded to state my opinion? I don't believe it's a three team race. At this point it's SDSU and about 5 others below that. The Cats are never down big? what? They were completely destroyed twice last year and had two last second wins against doormat fcs teams. They received one of the biggest ass-whoopings in FCS championship history the year before. They should be good again, but check your facts. Based on what I've seen with my own eyes, I would argue we do have a QB, and a talented wr corp. IN MY OPINION, it's the most complete team we've had since Hauck has been back. I'm not seeing a ton of question marks. But I can only base that on practices, offseason additions, what we return, and talking to coaches. This is a damn good team, IN MY OPINION.

I really hope youre right. In my opinion, I have more unknowns and question marks about this team than most years I can remember. The only positions that Im not concerned is OLINE (FOR ONCE) and RBs.

I agree with your opinion. My other major concern is the defensive line.

The denial about the Cats' recent superiority amongst many Griz fans is glaringly obvious. We will never catch them if we can't even admit they've surpassed us.

To each their own. I'm stoked for this season and this Griz team.

Me too. And excited to see how the Cats do with a very different schedule.

I'm most curious to see how our secondary comes together against good passing teams. Linebacker unit is solid. Need better defensive end play beyond eating blocks, but we've got some good candidates for breakout years. I'm high on Vidlak and our receiving corp even though running back and O-line are definite strengths of this team. Kris Brown appears improved and more confident, we'll see how it translates throughout the season. I think Clifton is a guy who needs to have pads on with full contact to shine. Things I expect to see once the season starts are better yards per carry on early downs, fewer runs for no gain, more screen packages, and a fresher defense later in games. We shall see.

I think our safety corps has a chance to be much improved from last season. Biggest thing will be scheme adjustments. We were not prepared to stop running teams last year for some reason, I like Bradford as DC…I think he’s a big upgrade.

Well unless Kaschmitter and Detrick have put on about 40 lbs, they’re gonna get steamrolled. And for the record, I LOVE both of those guys on the edge…

From someone I'd consider a reliable source I'm told Kaschmitter has approaching strength numbers to former Griz Jesse Sims (RIP Jesse). Sims played in the 270's and I think Noah is upper 250's / low 260's. We'll have to see. Jesse was a stud for being an "undersized" DT.

Quite a few player weights were updated on the gogriz.com roster yesterday. Kaschmitter is down 5 lbs to 245, and Ramos is now at 265 (down from 280+). Could be mistakes, could be disinformation.
