Huse would make a pretty good coach for the LG...GrizWhiz said:AJ's recruiting had everything to do with TInk's. It did help that Coach Selvig offered Shaunte a schollie to join the Lady Griz and this probably helped cement the deal. Why would we want Huse "back"? :? The Griz are 20-9. The cats are done at 15-14. I![]()
Well, I am not going to argue with you, since you seem to know your own mind...I do agree the BSC is not the top conference around, but it is better than some....I mean, LMU, twice beaten badly, by UM is playing Gonzage for the WCC title...guess that means they are pretty bad....and Gonzage sucks...oh, well....interesting negative take on Kareem being heavily recruited by others...I hope so...because he is most certainly telling the meida here that Montana offers him everything he thins a college should....it might surprise you but UM is highly repected down here....from reading the posts on egriz, you would think it was some backwater no one wants to even visit...yes, AJ could have gone somewhere else...but, alas, he didn't...you could say that about every single recruit in every college.....The Griz looked good, not great, last night...they might even win a couple more if they play like that...and I hope they go to the NIT this year....Next year it will be a much more impressive team....maybe then, you will cheer up and see that a 20 win season is not anything to be ashamed of.[/quote]GrizLA said:Tiger41 said:Well, after tonight's win over NAU and Cherry having a great game, and the Griz showing a lot more life you might not have to worry about that for some time to come...the future at UM is looking damn good.....tonight, UM recruit, Kamar J. scored 16 just 6 below the league leader in his high school's City championship game in Los Angeles....Now they move on to the State Tourney...this guy is something else again.....he and Cherry are going to make some marks at UM, that is certain......so, you can relax about MSu....
Here I am being Mr. Negative again... or Mr. Realist. I didn't see a dominant Griz team last night... I seen an inept NAU squad... good grief, the depth of the Big Sky is lacking. Holien kept calling Cherry the "stat page filler" or something akin to that... as a freshman, he reminds me of Rajon Rondo for the Celtics. He does a lot of little things real well... except shoot the ball, unless he's driving to the hoop. Maybe his shooting touch will improve with age, or our three-ball game is going to stink next year.
I read with interest the comments about Tinkle's recruiting powress... but didn't Anthony Johnson come to the UM because of his wife... not Tinkle? I'm just asking??
Kareem Jamar is not signed to play for the Griz... correct??? It seems a player of his caliber will be hunted by the major leagues... oral commitments are a dime-a-dozen. I'd think the chances of him bolting to a bigger stage would be pretty good.
At a recent political event in Bozeman which included Cat-Griz rivalries intermingled from table to table... the Cat-backers were pretty full of themselves... Us Griz-guys and gals just told them... "just remember where you stole your coach, can we have him back?!!!!" the answer... NYET!

Uh, why would I even be interested in another school's msg.board? 20 wins is twenty wins. Could care less about what anyone from msu thinks...don't they have their own board, as well? Are things that bad up there? As for ESPN, you might be amazed that lots of people do not get their news from there...in fact, much of relevance in sports is to be found in the print media, still. So, what's your point...when you live in a major population center, there really are more sources....I noticed ESPN failed to note the Gonzaga win over LMU, while the print media made it clear, that LMU came within 6 pts before the parade to the foul line....face it, Gonzaga is just barely better than the top 3 BSC schools.....next year I suspect will be a different storyGrizLA said:oops...thougth Gonzaga was playing a final...don't get much info about them in the mainstream...they are a flash in their own pan.....who cares? Montana is moving solidly into that parity with Gonzaga. And, the consistency of Gonzaga is only a recent event....Weber State has a solid history in the NCaas....like everywhere else, Bonzaga will have up and down seasons, they don't appear that good this year, and seem to be getting worse as the season ends...that is fine....if the Griz were consitent they too would qualify for a high rating...but, UM lost a few they most certainly cannot explain,...but, we all know they are better than the record shows....and it might not be over yet...Ilike 20 win seasons...grizpack said:I would love to have a basketball program like Gonzaga's. Even though they are either over-rated or under-perform in the NCAA tournament, they are a consistently better product than the Big Sky has.
They also benefit from having virtually no competition in a town the size of Spokane too.
GrizLA said:Prove to me that they are not....LMU was soundly beaten twice by the 4th place team in the Big Sky....yet, the spokane crew lost to them and was on the ropes last night....Weber state, NCU and UM are pretty much in the same class as Gonzaga...don't forget, Gonzaga is in a bad league, maybe even softer than the BSC...but, since bball is all there is, you are forgiven for being condescending....UM fans know who is the real deal in your part of the world...I imagine you feel Gonzaga and St. Mary's should be in the tourney while some in the final 65 should not....you lose credibility with that statement....a 20 win season is something to be proud of...you sound like the Alpha guy here who hates to see Montana do well in football.....what world you people must live in......reality is, 20 wins....and maybe more....that seems to bother you and your definitions of success....
It is all opinion...you have yours, and I have mine...get back to us peons here when Gonzaga makes the final four...until then, I am of the opinion that Gonzaga is a flash in their own pan...a favorite in the West because, this year, there really is no one else.. Still don't know why you lurk here on this board....can't imagine anyone here going to the msg board at gonzaga, but then......I find your logic of downplaying a 20 win season as nothing the height of arrogance. Any coach in America would be happy to have that....that is why you have no credibility....1986cat said:GrizLA said:Prove to me that they are not....LMU was soundly beaten twice by the 4th place team in the Big Sky....yet, the spokane crew lost to them and was on the ropes last night....Weber state, NCU and UM are pretty much in the same class as Gonzaga...don't forget, Gonzaga is in a bad league, maybe even softer than the BSC...but, since bball is all there is, you are forgiven for being condescending....UM fans know who is the real deal in your part of the world...I imagine you feel Gonzaga and St.
We lost to LMU. Yes.
We were on the ropes last night. For about 2 solid minutes of the game.
I am confused at why UM, NCU, and Weber are "pretty much" in the same class as Gonzaga. You didn't offer any support for that contention. You are forgiven for dismissing the WCC because it doesn't have football, but you make one assertion without defending it at all. I'm still waiting for an answer on that one.
A twenty win season is nothing to brag about if you don't beat anybody along the way. Please, tell me some of the teams BSC teams beat long the way to those 20 win seasons. Then, tell me where the "Big 3" stand in RPI and SOS.
And, finally, why do I lose credibility with saying that Gonzaga and St. Mary's should be in the field of 65? They have the RPI, SOS, and quality wins that not one single team from the Big Sky has. I didn't notice any conversation about an at-large bid for the Big Sky, LAGriz. Gonzaga will be in, win or lose tonight. St. Mary's will probably be in, even if they lose. It's not just my credibility you are challenging, it is the collective knowledge of the basketball world.
Still waiting for a cogent argument backed up with actual facts.
