yeah yeah yeah, obviously ADs and donors and what not care about attendance. But as a fan, do you really care? I mean my experience following a team and rooting for a team is not impacted in the least bit by the ebb and flow of attendance.
But I guess as Griz fans all you have to cheer for these days are "highest attendance" banners or "best gameday experience" banners or whatever else you guys cheer about here. So have at it I guess.

The rest of us and our small attendance numbers will continue to march through the playoffs and compete for actual championships.

Just don't forget this was your attendance last weekend:

While winning will always come first for me regardless of how many fans are in the seats, I cannot deny that i wish Weber had a larger following and that there are more than 8500 in the stands when they are ranked #3 in the nation and winning Big Sky titles and making their 3rd straight trip to the playoffs. Weber has made history 2 years in a row and nobody comes out to watch them. I still firmly beleive a lot of that is because Weber is an FCS school smack dab in the center of 3 FBS schools, but it is what it is.

Also, you really don't have any kind of game day atmosphere. There is little or no tailgating or anything like that. Kind of boring going to game there.

I wonder if the church influence limits the tailgating. Ive always heard that those that like to consume a beverage from time to time do so in private as to not be looked down upon by other members of the cult.

Attendance and atmosphere are incredibly important and fun. With your stadium and low attendance, I can see how you wouldn't know or understand. I could never watch games on that ugly red field.

Your last comment on UM attendance last weekend was pretty funny, tho.

So how is student attendance? 24k kids attending school - I would hope they have some % validating their tees & showing up for games.

Student attendance has gotten better than it was the last few years though it's still nothing to write home about. People automatically assume that because Weber has 24K students that they all became Weber fans because they attend the school. But I'm willing to bet that 80% of Weber's students are already fans of 1 of the 3 FBS schools within an hour's drive from their campus.

Depends on how close you are to Mormonist Extremists, the Mormons I know don't even care about people who drink...considering they all drink too.

If they don’t care, how come there are no tailgates?

You got me, probably has something to do with Weber's history in football. It's not a storied program. Though i beleive the fanbase is starting to build these things take time. Plus at the end of the day...its still Utah

I wish EWU had the stadium and attendance of UM. Unfortunately like a lot of other FCS schools we compete with FBS programs and in Easterns case, GU basketball. Credit to UM and their fans because their gameday atmosphere is awesome! I do think FCS attendance and support has a long way to go but it’s improving I also think stadiums and atmosphere are a huge plus in terms of recruiting and Montana is better off because of it.

I saw some crazy tailgates in Ogden (or is it Provo or Logden?). Dudes were ripping whole milk like it was skim. They made a day of it.

Went to the Boise State vs BYU game here a few weeks back with a good mormon friend of mine that is a professor at BYU. As we were standing in the line, this older gentleman behind us strikes up a conversation. Said friend is wearing a BYU hat and this guy says his great grandfather was the founder of Weber State. There's a statue of him and such. Was a really cool story...made only better by the guy being $h!%faced and holding a Marborol! hahaha

Pretty cool to hear the origins of Damian Lillard University.

When are Montana fans gonna get it that FCS sucks? A playoff team getting 8000 at a game? Our shitty FBS program gets 10000 for a 3-9 team. Last year for our last game when we were 5-6 we got 27000 and had 30000 fans of our fans at the bowl game. Several teams playing FCS football should be playing FBS football and Montana is probably the number one candidate.

Funny, I was talking with a friend about how several FBS teams should be playing FCS and New Mexico St is probably the number 1 candidate.
