FCS Kickoff 2016

You may want to take a 2nd look at that stat...and the biggest stat that matters is National Titles, where its 2-1. You would think with all the Griz success that the margin would be a lot bigger...[/quote]

Fortunately for me, I don't buy that garbage that the only stat that matters is NCs. Playoff wins and appearances in the NC game are much more important. But if it makes you feel better to proclaim that there is one NC and everybody else is an equal "loser," go ahead and humor yourself. I respect what EWU has done lately, and will root for you when you make the playoffs, but I'm fully expecting this year's results to signal the return to normalcy in the UM/EWU series (not rivalry, we have only one rival). :thumb:

yeah we'll see. We'll see when your university continues to bleed out. We'll see what happens then.

It must be sickening to know your 15 minutes is just about up.

You are a sad little man and you have my pity.

I mean I get it that you all think Wa Griz is some mecca of college football, but in reality this year's game broadcast sucked. The smoke was awful, the crowd was pretty much non existent until the end and had Montana not pulled off that victory in dramatic fashion that would have been a dump of a game.

Yeah. You're right. That's why I had 30+ people texting me from Texas throughout the game about how f***[*] awesome it was, how surprised they were, how great the stadium looked, how loud the crowd was, how good the football was, etc., etc., etc. You know, Texas, where they play big-boy football in 105,000 seat stadiums? Yeah---THOSE guys were impressed. Honestly, we couldn't give two shits whether a fan from Cheney Community College liked it or not.

Yes the whole country was talking about the Griz after that game. I saw tweets from fans of Florida St, Auburn, Ohio St ect.. commenting on how awesome the stadium was and how they are all going to follow the Griz from then on. EWU is barely a pimple on our arses. Porta johns on a running track for restrooms??? Are you friggin kidding me???? At least lil bro moo U has a decent facility and permanent restrooms! If moo U is little brother, Ewho must be the cousin nobody in the family likes to talk about! You guys comparing ANYTHING about your program to Montana is a total laugher!!!!

It was around this time last year ESPN announced the UM Vs. NDSU matchup. Any bets on next year's game(s) matchup(s). Rumored to be a double header Big Sky Vs. Missouri Valley day of football.

I am thinking NDSU and EWU reschedule their already in the books meeting a week or two earlier (Not sure Fargo or Red Carpetville are great venues for TV though) .

Bruh, we already had the FCS kickoff game two years ago... You know, before Montana did it. EWU was the first choice of ESPN to start this yearly tradition. So clearly ESPN thought it was just fine for TV.

Get off your high horse.
And all 8 EWho fans were watching, right?

Name escapes me right now of the sideline reporter, but she said many different times that the atmosphere was one of the greatest she had ever been at, as good or better than the regular SEC games she works on the sideline, and would love to come back to Montana again.

In what way did your sensitive arse feel slighted bruh? What a moron....

Don't mind him. He's a little pissy since they are joining the cats watching the playoffs from the outside. Without VA they're back to mediocreville and not too happy about it.

Check this thread out on reddit. The actual college football fans (not the meth'd out bandwagon ones like you) would disagree with your opinion. It had 4,936 comments on the game.

Here is another thread that had 500+ comments post game about the game.

Some of the comments from big time program FBS fans in both threads:

From a Clemson fan (The #1 team in the country right now):
"Guys, we just watched something that was fucking special. We had ridiculous fan chants and comments. We had Brent making weird comments. We had a down to the wire upset. And most importantly we just had a damn entertaining fucking football game. This was college football, distilled down into its purest form and it's only the start of the season"

From a Virginia Tech fan:
"That was legitimately one of the best, most exciting games I've watched."

From an Ohio State fan:
"The bar has been set pretty high for this season. What a fucking game."

From a UCLA fan:
"That was phenomenal. Easily better than most bowl games."

From a Georgia fan:
"A nail-biting upset of a perennial power house, hosted in the bowels of Hell as the rest of the world burns around the stadium. Shit. Was. Epic. Thank you, Montana. "

From a Texas fan:
"The type of game any college football fan can appreciate. That was fantastic and the perfect way to kick off the college football season. "

From a BYU and Houston fan:
"I WAS EMOTIONALLY INVESTED IN A FUCKING FCS GAME WHAT IS THIS?"

From a Georgia fan:
"I've never been as invested in FCS football as I am today..."

From a Miami University / Kentucky fan:
"I never knew FCS football could be so great but holy shit this is fun!"

From a Florida / LSU fan:
"this is legitimately a great game so far"

From a Kansas State fan:
"CAN THE WHOLE SEASON GO LIKE THIS PLEASE"

From a Kansas State / Big 12 Fan:
"FOOTBALL IS BACK IN EPIC FASHION"

From a Utah / South Carolina fan:
"This is a great game. FCS FTW."

etc...etc...etc... Well over 5,000 comments between the two threads, many of them similar to the ones I quoted above or from fans of football enjoying the hell out of that epic game.

So, it would seem that many college football fans (not just Griz fans) disagree with you big time about how awesome that game was.

I'm also guessing many college football fans would also disagree with you on it being a "Great day to be an Eagle" considering you all are on the outside looking in at the playoffs.

But hey, at least you guys have that eyesore of a field and the memories of how your team used to be better than mediocre (before VA bailed). You'll always have those memories of the short period of time that it was a good (not great though) day to be an eagle :thumb:

Us Griz fans though know it's ALWAYS a great day to be a Grizzly! To quote the soon-to-be-great Willy Pflug (Who will be kicking Eagle ass in the near future): "I love the Montana Grizzlies, and I couldn't be happier with my decision!" The reason for your recent success apparently wasn't too happy with his decision since he transferred to Oregon :P

UM Still looking for an 11th game and 6th home game next year. ESPN might be waiting to see who before announcing 2016 kickoff. If UM could get a bigger name team to come (Ivy League/McNeese St./Sam Houston/Jacksonville St./Ill. State/James Madison) it might be attractive enough to both teams and ESPN to kick off in Missoula again? How about MSU @ Idaho?

Is Idaho back in the FCS??

I am a Bobcat through and through, but I am also an honest man. The Griz-Bison FCS Kickoff this year was one of the best season opening football games I've ever seen.

I was born in Missoula and was happy to see national exposure and comments from around the country recognizing how great Montana is, even with the smoke.

ESPN should come back to Missoula for the FCS Kickoff, but it likely won't happen for a few years IMO. I wouldn't mind them coming to Bozeman as I think we could also surprise some folks -- we do have a great FCS venue, we'd just need to get a home-and-home put together with some punch.

good luck in Fargo - seriously I hope you bring the Bison down. Should be a good game.

So yeah, go ahead and keep thinking the FCS world spins around Missoula, but the fact is it doesn't. In this era of big TV markets and an explosion of college football on TV, EWU has been on ESPN and ESPN2 far more than Montana. In fact if you went and looked at the last 6 or 7 years, you could probably find a half or dozen or so times where EWU was on ESPN 2 in a quarterfinal or semifinal game or the national championship game (and the kickoff game on ESPN).

This is pointless to argue. You guys are so god damn delusional when it comes to FCS football. Despite all that EWU has done and how far the program has come you are too block headed to see reality and the changing landscape.
29 of 30 years we have been in the playoffs plus you're once again watching the Griz in the playoffs while you wait for next year....I don't think much has changed.

And then there's Cheney...
