FBS Scared of NDSU

When coach Ron Ash retires from coaching, he's got a great career ahead as an orator.

If that's what he's committed to.....

Likely. He'll commit to a speaking engagement, back out leaving them in a bad position, commit to another, have the host back out for legit reasons (better speaker committed), and then spew a diatribe about how the latter doesn't know about commitment (without any comment at all re: the former engagement).

It's the Coach Ron Ash way.

47 13. Home one time shot. Yes Iowa state. Beat a decent but not awesome k state. Big boys no way.

Tell them that. Les Miles has been ducking them for years.

Really doubt LSU is quaking in their shoes. I for one would love to see them go to death valley on a Saturday night in early September.

Maybe it was Urban Meyer who has been ducking them. So many FBS schools are afraid of the T-Buffs, it's tough to keep track.

Having Gene Taylor at Iowa City doesn't hurt either; however, after 2016, it could be very slim pickens for NDSU AD Larson if the Bison continue their success. However, if NDSU slumps, (someone define "slumps").... things could change. Maybe even to the point where msu would return a game. Wishful thinking I know.

The way Coach Ron Ash and Co. ducked UNDSU was an embarrassment to the entire State of Montana. I am very grateful that the Ace has been called in to clean up the mess via this home/home to host our plump brothers from the far east. The Griz and T-Buffs, alike, will play anyone, anytime, anywhere. Our neighbors from the near east have some learnin' to do when it comes to that principle.

lol. Ya, like the griz have never bought out a game... nice try.

Anyway, sorry for the interruption, noqw get back to talking about the BOBCATS and our coach as per usual over here. :thumb:

I remember when Montana made it up to Poly by honoring a new two-series H&H from 2008-2011. When did MSU make it up to NDSU?

Thanks for playing.

I'm sorry, I missed the part where I asserted that the Griz have never bought out a game. Oh, that's because I didn't assert it. Is this where I say, "nice try" or is this more of a "BOOM" situation?

Further, HAHA . . . Coach! He's more of an embarrassment than a coach.

UM buys out DII games to play legit competition. They don't bobcat the best teams in the nation.

Yes, they bought out CP one year before they were a top 20 team then gave them a 2 for 1'when they were.

See any diffences moron??

Ok, so we're all on the same page then... all teams buy out of games for various reasons, and there's a reason all contracts have the buyout clause. This has been hammered to death, but MSU buying out the NDSU game was purely economical and I'm damn glad we did it because if that hadn't of happened, we would have only had five home games and that would have left one weekend where I didn't get to drink beer all day, watch a Bobcat victory, party all night and have a kickass time in Bozeman! Or - if you guys want to believe that our coach saw the NDSU game on the schedule and imediately called up the AD and said, "How the hell did this happen? No way in hell I'm bringing our little team to play NDSU ,they're too damn good and they'll kill us. Buy out of it now."... go ahead and keep believing that tiger. :thumb:

After the trip to the woodshed NDSU gave ya'll the year before, you're goddamned right that's what happened.

Poorcats, there is so much wrong with that post that I don't know where to start, and really don't care to correct you. For instance, the phrase "bobcat victory" is an oxymoron. So is "kickass time in Bozeman."

But, your blathering aside, you sound like a revisionist here. I've heard this "we would have only got 5 home games" excuse a few times now and it makes me wonder: didn't Boobcat brass realize this when they originally made the "commitment" to play NDSU? Thus, the boobcats are either incompetent at reviewing their own schedule beforehand, or have no problem breaking "commitments". Which is it?

Buying a game out for economic reasons is way different that totally Bobcatting a team, not making it right, and then getting on one's, and I quote, "soapbox" to talk about commitment. Try to defend it all you want, but it was a very bush league move followed by blatant hypocrisy. No way around that.

What is very interesting are the cats fans who keep claiming it was more economical and that they would make more money with a home game. After talking with some real cat fans who don't sit around and drink the Ash-aid all day long, they said they were lucky to break even after that mess. To make it worse, NDSU AD used words like "stunned, really disappointed, really angry, don't understand it" as well. Folks also forget it wasn't the first time the Cats did it to the Bison. They bailed and bought them out in 2007 as well. This was the second time!

I don't have the exact economic numbers on it but they were similar to this:

NDSU buyout: 100k
Bring in MonMouth: 200k
Travel to SMU: 100k
Total expense: 400k

Play SMU: 300k
Extra home game: 150k
Total Income: 450k

So according to these fellas who I would trust more than most, they pretty much broke even. I know my buddies were embarrassed about the decision to bail on NDSU and didn't defend it in the least. They said Fields and Ash were pussies. Funny how others have a defensive take on it.

Wait, they Bobcatted the Bizon in 2007 as well? If true, forget about the modular stadium, shit pond, annual collapses, lil' bro mentality/reality, C.A.T.S., thinking the Griz game is a rivalry, Ms on the helmet, and coach who publicly blames players for losses. This habit of Bobcatting is, by far, the most embarrassing thing about the program at State U. How could one continue to be a fan? I'm being dead serious.

Real fans don't drink the koolaid. Good to know.

Was just referring to a few cats fans who don't have their heads so far up their behinds they can admit when something isn't right or shouldn't have happened. Yes, others drink the Ash-aid (like that better as alliteration is always good) and try to make butterflies and rainbows out of a shitshow. Not just a Cats thing as we have our fair share here as does every other program. But to defend Ash/Fields for pulling that one will never be acceptable. Just look at the words of the other AD...tells me all I need to know. The Bison have a lot of hate for the Cats due to these shenanigans. Time to man up and admit your team effed up.

Given the facts, and Ash's subsequent whining about commitment, there really isn't anything to defend. Attempting to do so only makes one look silly.
