Its Bauman

Is that the one with the Drew Bledsoe arm and a Peyton Manning mind, or one who plays just like Pat Mahomes?

Yes

Classic efizz, camp thread turns into a pissing match about if um receiver is the greatest to ever catch a football :thumb:

you tools never disappoint

Shouldn’t you worry more about your QBs. Heard they really lit it up in the scrimmage today  Rovig had a QB rating of 38 and your other guy didn’t fare much better.
Here is how Choach described the scrimmage in the newspaper.
“It was good. I felt it was kind of workmanlike. Nobody was going crazy. It wasn’t too high, it wasn’t too low. I thought it was very appropriate in terms of where we’re at. I’ve kind of felt that way about our entire fall camp, really.”
I’ve never heard a more apt description of something being mediocre without actually using the term “mediocre.”
The C.A.T. hype always outpaces the reality on the field but this year it is extreme. Seems Choach is trying to temper expectations per The Plan yet they are already whipped into a frenzy. Some of them seem to think they are a semi-final team and would be playing in Frisco if not for that pesky QB position.

No disrect to other great defenses and to the NDSU legacy, but per a source, the MSU defense is as good as any defense they have ever seen in the FCS!! You simply can't make this stuff up! ;)

Per source: Bauman will be named starter Monday or sooner. He played above expectations today. He completed a higher percentage and his ypa was better than expected. They were hoping someone would complete 50% and be 1:1 ratio touchdowns to interceptions. Bauman met or exceeded everything except TD:Int. But the coaches were okay with that since one interception went off a receivers face.

Per another source: the MSU defense is as good as any I’ve ever seen in the FCS.

Perhaps the poster has never seen another FCS defense or good defense.

Perhaps the Cat offense is the worst FCS offense ever.

Whew! I think this could be the year, then. If not this year, then 2020 . . . 2022 at the latest, unless the team is young, then 2023 will be the year of the Bobcat. I see a three-way tie for third becoming a BSC championship through near misses and if-onlys by 2023.

GD guys. I come here for Griz fall camp updates and I open up page 7 to Bobcat talk.

Check Thread Title. Bobs naming a starting QB(?) is a Fall Camp Update and maybe one of the most entertaining position pillow fights of the fall. On one hand, you had the Rovig kid who isn't good. On the other hand, you had the Bachman kid who isn't good. So . . . that's about it.

That’s what they were hoping for?!? I had to read this like 5 times; and after each time I had to wipe the drink I spit out on the screen!
You mean to tell us that this was the standard set for the QBs at the scrimmage? 50% and 1:1?!?! And they were happy when one of them could not even meet this low-bar?
BWAHAHA! They are even worse off at the position than I thought.
Hell why even set the bar that low, just to be disappointed? Why not just say, “we were hoping one of them would not pick their nose and eat it...but maybe next year.”

I think this guy has some eligibility left, maybe they should check him out?

Nah, I actually read about this "battle" this year. Baumen is the guy. Rovig was the guy four days ago. He was definitely going to be the starter last year before getting hurt in the Idaho Bowl. Rovig is extremely mobile and can throw it to either team on the run. In the end, he wasn't up for the laundry list of the staff's expectations:

1. 50% completions; and
2. 1:1 TD/INT.

Baumen was able to hit ALL of those metrics except one. This proves that he is game ready. I'm looking for big things.

Hahaha, I almost skipped right by this gem!

Ok I have to admit it; I did something I promised I would never do. With 96’s quote and all the talk about C.A.T. hype, I could not believe it, so I thought I would visit BM and see for myself. I learned my lesson.
And, it’s even worse than I thought, as the C.A.T.S. are going to the super bowl this year:

Choate's quote below is very interesting to me. That is very high praise and makes me think this team is going to be something special. Either that or Choate is over hyping how solid they are, which I doubt.

"They are playing pro football right now. There is no school, there’s no jobs. That’s what these guys are and I think they’ve handled it like that.”

How good must their defense be if they could win with 49% completions and slightly more INT's than TD's?

There can only be answer. Anyone?

Just to clarify, that isn’t my quote above. No harm, no foul but wanted to correct this so faithful cat fans don’t believe I am perpetuating facts about their team in the fall camp thread. I am, however, responsible for reporting about their best FCS defense ever!

What kind of coaching staff sets such low standards?

It's like your 17 year old daughter telling you her standards for her next husband are:
1) He's got to work at least 20 hrs. a week.
2) He can only smoke meth up to 3.5 times per week.
3) He isn't currently incarcerated.

And then the dad texts his own boss (whose daughter's husband is a medical doctor) saying that his son-in-law is a loser. I think that pretty much completes the analogy.

Yes, sorry 96. I screwed that quote up.
Some guy named DumbCat88 provided the C.A.T. gold standard for QBs—50% and 1:1.
I’m going to call it the 50/50 rule. Which makes sense because every C.A.T. pass is a 50/50 ball.
