Fall Camp Day-4 Observations

I have a friend who’s kid plays ol for the cats. He thinks Troy will be under center again by game 3. Lol. The team can’t understand why he’s playing middle linebacker and the nc transfer is now only second string and the kid from butte is now 3rd string. Wow

As of today Monday 8/16, McKay is clearly the number one in practices. He is looking very good with his passing accuracy. Rovig and Bauman battling for 2 and Mellot is number 4 right now and they have him involved on special teams.

Ran into Griz running back #21 at GnR concert. He’s really yoked and said that he’s 3 months ahead of schedule in his rehab. You all know what that means— he might be able to return at full strength for the 4 playoff games. So yeah I’m saying we might still have a chance :thumb:

I see no sense in bringing him back for the post season. He is a stud no doubt, however I think he should just focus on 2022.

God, that's sad. Didn't Troy attend a Griz summer football camp? One would think the coaches running that camp would have been able to see what a freak-of-nature this kid was. Can you imagine what our LB corps would have looked like with Troy added to the mix?

I don’t think that’s true at all. Griz did recruit him at that time. I remember that he was one of our first offers. His family has MSU ties and was leaning that way until committing. The question with Troy was whether he was going to get FBS attention but they never really happened for him so he went with the route we all thought he was gonna go. I will say that if Bobby was running the show then that might have made it more interesting.

It’s all true. His best friend is RJ Fitzgerald who is also from Dillon and should have been a Griz legacy since his dad and uncle were on the 2001 national championship team. RJ and Troy played on a bunch of Dillon state championship football and basketball teams together and RJ was the catcher on the Dillon legion team. RJ’s dad is a school principal down there and also refs U of M Western games. Stitt’s staff totally dropped the ball because RJ wanted to play for the Griz and his best friend Troy would have come with him. Troy’s only connection to the cats is his sister ran track, his father played hoops for Eastern Oregon. His father wanted him to stay in state so the family could watch him play more that’s why he turned down WSU.

Ask Kem about him he knows the whole tragic turn of events, I believe the Fitzgerald family was from Columbus area. RJ is under sized (5-10, 225) but started last year at fb for the cats and will again this year. They both should be playing in maroon and silver. And yes Troy’s dad was pissed when they played him at qb and lb. He got really dinged up playing both ways. Hand surgery, knee surgery, high ankle sprain and he now wears a brace on his right shoulder. The covid shut down probably saved his NFL chances because it gave him sometime to heal up. They used him too hard and now he’s playing his 4th college position in 4 years —middle linebacker where he is likely to get hit every down. IMO he should be playing strong safety or outside backer. I love to see rural Montana kids succeed regardless of school.

I heard it about 3 years ago from an assistant high school coach who is good buddies with one of the Dillon assistant coaches. That's all I know, which is why I asked if anyone could confirm it.

Well, unlike you, I don’t play games like this and drop names. I would never put the mods in that position. So, I’ll tell you what, how about this. You prove that you spoke to Knight at the concert I will give $500.00 to the GSA. If you can’t I would expect you to give $500.00.

So, you now find yourself in a major conundrum. You either prove that you spoke with Knight and throw one of our stars under a bus for blatantly disobeying the coaches orders. Or, you can’t prove it and have to pay.
