Whoops! Missed the 2nd post. Those damn Random and Other Sports folders. I don't check those too often or closely. This belongs in the Griz Basketball section, IMO. It has a direct effect on the basketball program.
But now it is official and he can't come back. I still can't believe he said that he would "definitely" be back for his junior year.

I am happy for him, but it was a great challenge for the Griz playing him, and fun to watch.

Oh man, he was incredible. I haven't seen a smoother, more efficient offensive player. Not the best player, but perfect for the NBA.
I can understand why he would hope to come back, but he had to have thought about the NBA more than a few times. I don't think anybody took him too serious at the time anyway.
The fact that EWU was able to have him on the roster for 2 years is quite a bit for a Big Sky team to hope for these days. Too bad that they couldn't hold on to Giacoletti for a couple more years and keep a solid squad around Stuckey.
I just gotta say - 1,438 points in two years!!! He would have approached 3,000 points in his career. There are only 6 players in the history of the NCAA to have done that.

Grizbacker1 said:Then explain why these guys who were all drafted between 3 and 6 in the 1st round never made it. They had far more hype than Stuckey.

I think you just answered your own question. The hype was unrealistic. Nobody outside of the Pacific Northwest knows who Stuckey is. But they will, very soon. And you're right, he may not have immediate success, but I think he'll be a star in the NBA.

How can a star in the NBA never even make the BSC title game? It's the freakin big sky.

Jackson was the 10th pick in the 1st round, Stuckey hasn't even been picked yet. Jackson was a stud in college in a much better program than EWU, playing against far superior competition. My only point is there is no guarantee. There are a LOT of other first rounders who never made it in the NBA. I think Stuckey has a legit shot, I am just a realist because I have seen the hyped players fail nearly as often as they succeed.
Let's say I give you Jackson. Then explain why these guys who were all drafted between 3 and 6 in the 1st round never made it. They had far more hype than Stuckey.
Robert Traylor, Chris Washburn, Sharone Wright, Russell Cross, Mel Turpin, Michael Olowakandi (sp) Danny Ferry, Strmillle Swift, the list goes on and on. Kwame Brown was hand picked by Michael Jordan, and look where he is. :twocents:
