EWU has been watching too much field of dreams
“If you build it, they will come”
How about another oldie but goodie: "Dreams do come true." Or, "Hope springs eternal!"

Or…wish in one hand, shit in the other

They can’t fill the one they have now even for good games unless it’s against a team with a fan base that travels well like UM. They had less than 4K vs Weber. So why exactly do they need an expansion when fan support is non existent?
Your facts don't seem to be facts. 5676 according to the box score.

Still wildly embarrassing for a DI game of that magnitude, no?

I thought they had less than that. Still. Less than 6 is nonetheless terrible, and I believe half capacity for their stadium. So why the need for an expansion?

Much like most playoff games.

Does anyone really believe that ESPN gameday will be in Cheney on week 10?

Personally for me it is sad to see such a great program have so little support. They've had tons of success on the field and they are one of the top-ranked FCS schools in the nation and they still can't get people to show up to games or have facilities that reflect that. Frankly I feel that's what it boils down to, too many people don't give a damn about football in Cheney.

The fact they were even considering dropping down to division 2 reflects that. Frankly the fact that they've been able to be so productive with a university that does not support them is a miracle in itself.

That would be absolutely infuriating and also damaging to the FCS brand.

I thought they were building something new in a nearby field. I remember seeing a drawing of it a couple years back. What happened to that plan?

I feel like the entire town of Cheney would qualify as being "a nearby field"

I feel your feeling. But, I swear I remember hearing something about some dude who proposed a new stadium on his land (or something) a few years ago. I'm 73% sure it wasn't a dream. Can any EWU fan help us out here? Did this get pitched?

how many times has it been said on here that the the actual attendance of a griz game appeared to be far less than the number reported to the media? it seems to happen often.

I think it would be pretty cool and very good for the FCS brand.

If there were 5,676 people at that game, they had to ALL be on the side the cameras were on, because the stands they were showing on TV had about 300 people in them. Total.

It's pretty simple. Attendance figures across NCAA football are reported as tickets sold, not as counted butts in the seats. Season ticket holders that are no-shows are counted, as their tickets are paid for. It is often the prime seats around the 50 on both sides that we see empty seats. They are certainly season tickets.

Every stadium in the Big Sky besides MU and Montana State need to expanded or update facilities, some more than others. However, I respect the Eags because they've proven that it's about getting right the people in the buildings (coaches), rather than the buildings themselves. They are a consistent winner despite not having the best facilities.

Meh, I think Davis and Poly have good stadia. Weber’s isn’t a slouch. MSU’s modular setup is good, UM’s actual stadium is great. The Kibbie isn’t tiny, but it’s weird. Let’s see, who does that leave?

I mean it makes sense having the top two BSC teams go at it on national TV. Top D vs top O. Should be a ton of fun hopefully it brings the EWU fans out of the woodworks.

I see your point but on their website they say the new stands will have the same amount of seats. They're just going to get rid of the track and make it more of a "mini stadium" kind of vibe.

Like others have said, it would be nice to see other programs in the BSC have some vision and improve their facilities, especially when their product on the field is doing so well. Same goes with their b-ball team, was pretty sad to see their head coach and most their team leave right after such a good game against Kansas in the tourney. I think I read somewhere that the coach left because he had no faith in the administration and cited the lack of decent facilities.

ESPN Gameday begins at 6:00 AM PST. With the Luke warm ewu fan support I would bet there’s more needle drop boxes than fans on campus.
