This is very good news for EWU and much more reasonable than the Gateway project, which was a disaster.

EWU will replace the red turf (with new red turf) after this season.

They also had the two biggest items in need, replacing the visiting stands and removing the track..

Marc, O/U 33.3% chance this gets fully funded by 2022?

Over, I think it’s closer to 50/50, maybe a bit higher...they had a couple big donors involved in the gateway project but nothing close to the amount they needed, which was a joke to begin with.

Time will tell, at least our new AD is getting things moving so our 17 fans are ecstatic.

We shall see. I honestly think any stadium looks better with the end zone seats, but it's a cool proposal.

how many seats are being added for the 25 million?

It looks like that number is 12. Or, a little over $2 million per seat.

Current 8,600: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roos_Field
Proposal shows 8,612.

Or, is this another problem with the mock-up? If not, given how we constantly hear how they sell out all the time, this project will pay off by about 2084 based on additional ticket sales alone.
Current is either 8600 or 8700 (above link). The money goes into removing the track, replacing inadequate seating and press boxes and creating premium boxes. The turf replacement number is high because it would appear they move the field toward the current good side to tighten it up once the track is gone. They have in the past used temporary seating to increase capacity by about 2000 for big games, like Montana. I presume that will be an ongoing option. Big improvement in functionality, but a high price tag for a small revenue increase.

Yeah, they have to consider (a) how many more people will buy tickets to "non-big" games if this is implemented, (b) the increased cost of this plan over bringing in temp seats for all games if the demand is there, and (c) if the temp seating is ever a deterrent to attendance for any game.

I'd venture:
(a) speculative at best, given that they only bring in temps for big games.
(b) Extremely higher cost without knowing if demand is there.
(c) No.

I might keep the track for a dual-purpose facility, spend some money on a gigantic video/scoreboard, offer 10k tickets per home game, and keep a temp seating contractor on retainer to be able to throw them up in a day or two if need be.

I should clarify that if I was a hypothetical donor, I might be a lot more on board with this proposal after a demonstration that EWU was forced to bring in temporary seating for every game for at least 3-4 years, and how that was a detriment to revenue.

As an aside, if I had Marc Cuban money, I might just fund this entire thing on the condition that they name it "Thank You So Much For This, Griz, Stadium."

Enough already. You do have Mark Cuban money & it would likely be called Purple Merms Memorial Stadium.

Moment of silent for the Merms. Thanks very much.

We had it all. Thanks for this.

EWU receiving $5M donation for stadium upgrade, largest donation in school history.

Wyoming's stadium with twin double decks is awfully cool with 33 000 seats and no end zone seating.
I've been there; "awfully cool" is not how I would describe it. And no enclosure allows the wind to raise havoc on the playing field.

I’ve been to WYO several times and I agree that it is just OK...
No way I’d describe it as “awfully cool”.
Game day experience was just OK too.
Good news is they are getting much better at both!
Go Griz!
