Wasn't Idaho picked middle of the pack in the WAC?
I thought they were picked to be first or second...oh wait...that's next year.

Heh, my mistake, they are ranked mainly above UTSA and TxSt. So, yeah, pretty much last.

ESPN considers McNeese State defeating Middle Tennessee State an upset; didn't mention EWU versus Idaho. I guess that means that EWU's victory over Idaho wasn't much, if any, of an upset, then.

I think most figured EWU would win, I know I did. But, didn't think it'd be that bad. Maybe D2 is the place for Idablows

Good win, but the offense played nowhere near its potential. I think we'll need to have some patience with Padron. It's obvious he's talented but doesn't have a complete grasp of the offense yet. It shows that he wasn't here during spring ball. I was impressed with how he just kinda seemed to make stuff happen at times, even without being totally comfortable. Also, it was nice to see us run the ball.

Defensively we looked really tough. I don't think teams will have as much success running against us as they did last season. Special teams were excellent.

Some definite things to clean up there, but if someone told me we'd open the season 1-1 I'd take that.

I wasn't giving you a hard time, just referring to the state of the WAC conference.

Agreed, but 2-0 isn't out of the realm of possibility. ;)

How bad would it be if you started 2-0 and ended up 7-4?

It would suck, but at the end of the day 7-4 would get us in the playoffs with an all Division I schedule this year.

The 1-A experiment in Moscow is over. Should be interesting to see the fallout after this one.

Tribune[/i]"]Familiar pratfall: Just like last season, Vandals open with poor showing at home ... New season, same old Idaho Vandals.
You have to subscribe to access the whole article, but you can read the comments ... and they get a bit ugly.

Behind closed doors for the administration, there must be some soul-searching going on. And their problems look even worse when they stack up against their "little brother" down in Boise. BSU long ago passed UI in enrollment, and the disparity can only grow. Adding in the national recognition for BSU football (vs the largely pathetic program at UI) just increases the pain. Last but not least, for even the "serious" folks, BSU is starting to challenge UI's one previous advantage: Boise is now attracting more and more outside research and teaching grants.

So the reality is that many (won't say most, but it might be) UI alums and other fans are beyond jealous of BSU's success. Giving up a big-time football program would be a major, painful blow to their pride -- not something they are likely to do until they have explored every possible, desperate answer they can think of.
