EWU @ Idaho Game Thread

Gunna be honest about this game. Our offense hasn't played that well.

However, the EWU front seven appear to be very formidable, and our secondary has dominated their receivers. As bad as our offense has played, if we can hang on I will take it and hope we can work some of these timing issues out with the passing game. It's obvious Padron isn't entirely comfortable behind center yet.

If the Eagles beat the Vandals tonight, I would think that would be the Nail-in-the-coffin for UI and Vandal fans would be put on suicide watch.

You would think so, unless they put it behind them and go on a tear afterwards. They have been told -- in WAY more blunt terms than politicians usually employ -- not to come back to the state for more money to help their athletics. Same way trying to raise student fees for sports would be crushed. But Idaho is full of UI fans (naturally), and they might not be willing to see V football go away. But -- honestly -- I almost think they would do away with football rather than suffer the humiliation of dropping down to 1-AA (or worse).

This Vandal team would be beaten by 3-4 BSC teams. At least.

I had no idea they were this bad.

I wouldn't read much into this win. Idaho's body language ALONE tells me they've had enough. This team is WAY worse than I thought...

I'm thinking the only BSC team Idaho might beat is UNC.

No question, the Eags are putting the wood to V-duds. You are clearly outplaying them.

But I can't help thinking that EWU can actually play way better than it is tonight. As of the stats right at this moment, Padron is 13/33 (surely he can do better). Until UI began to quit (and there's no nice way to put that), your rushing game was pitiful. (I noted your statement that your missing your best running back -- so that can get better too.)

The UI QB is also very bad, percentage-wise (10/24), and their running game is just awful.

So with all due (totally deserved) respect for the Eagles, I do no think it is out of line to think that one had "no idea they [UI] were this bad."

Edit: Missed all the extra by-play. Have no idea about relative team strength, based on one game. We all knew EWU was good -- but I don't believe any of us thought that UI would look this bad.

As others have said, this is great for EWU. I'm also happy because all my picks are right so far. :lol:

However, eagle fans can't be happy about Padron's play. Granted, he is the real deal, and I'm sure he'll improve a bunch, but he needs to get it figured out before conference play starts.

Good win for EWU. I focking hate Idaho, so any win is great against them.

I'm just happy the season is finally here! Can't wait for Sunday! (Griz play on Sunday morning in Japan )

Idaho looked terrible in their 20-3 loss to Eastern Washington tonight. If they don't make some major adjustments they are going to stumble out of Death Valley in two weeks with a humiliating 60+ point loss to LSU.
