ESPN Joe Lunardi has us at #14 and playing....

I think 14 would be the absolute highest (lowest?) we'll be placed. 13, maybe even 12 if I dare hope.

How accurate is Lunardi usually?

I'm surprised he has Marshall as a 12. Their RPI is 95. TBH they should be moved down to a 14 and the Griz up to a 13 and one of the 13s moved to a 12.

Yeah Marshall has a couple more quality wins than the Griz due to the conference they're in, but they also have SEVERAL "BAD" losses against 150+ teams, where the Griz have 0 losses to teams with an RPI of 150+.

Bucknell could easily be a 14 and the Griz a 13 too. They have some bad losses.

That's one of the big positives of this Griz team. They have 0 bad losses. Worst loss was @Georgia State by 3. Georgia State won the Sun Belt championship and is in the NCAA tournament.

Who knows though, I still think the Griz can get a 12, most likely a 13, and at worst a 14.

Guess we'll find out tomorrow.

Lunardi has had the Griz penciled in on that line all week. I don’t think it means much. They’ll have to actually evaluate a 26-7 montana team in today’s context.

How about a 13-4 vs Arizona?

We'll be a 13, perhaps a 12. Lunardi's brackets for the bsc team are -- nearly every year -- 2 spots worse than they end up.

I'd make us a 12, but figure on a 13.

I would hope that's not the case. Saw Arizona play several times this season and they keep getting better and better. Frankly, even though its a down year for the PAC, I wouldn't be surprised to see Arizona as a 3 seed, despite Mr Lunardi's opinion.

I'm not saying the Griz could not win a matchup with UA, just that there are certainly other first round matchups that would be more favorable.

You're probably right. I'm likely underestimating UA a bit. I have a bit of an anti-PAC12 bias (due to them being horribly overrated so many times in the NCAA tournament). Ayton from UA is the real deal. Still...they've looked beatable several times this season. I'd rather face them as a 13 seed than Kentucky as a 12 seed.

That could be because how we've done against teams from more Western-ish conferences vs how we've done against teams from the east lately in tournaments. We gave 1 seed Washington a game, gave 3 seed New Mexico a game, beat 5 seed Nevada. Then when it comes conferences more out east we got blasted by Wisconsin and Syracuse.

This is exactly my thought, which I am not thrilled about because Arizona is my favorite team other than UM. We will not be able to compete with them as Ayton is a man among boys and Trier is not far behind. I really believe that team is on a mission with all the peripheral negativity. We will see.

AZ is the one team I don't want to see in our opening game. The GRIZ don't have the post depth to contend with their front line. If we see a team like Arizona, we absolutely would need Nicholas on the floor more, for his athleticism. Also could use Besovic just to absorb some of the beating and fouls. Fortunately the GRIZ have the firepower in Rorie, Oguine, Pridgett, Falls, Moorehead (if aggressive) to absorb the scoring if we decide to use that kind of strategy.

Of all the bracket predictions I've seen, I believe the most likely has us in Boise, as a #13, against #4 Texas Tech, with Gonzaga in the bracket opposite us. I just don't see us going to Dallas.

If they are in Boise, I’ll be looking forward to a road trip this week.
