Why doesn't ESPN just pick up our game on Aug 31? Aren't we already doing their idea?

It's been discussed, but with little interest from ESPN. If ESPN did pick it up, it would be a thurs or fri night game, not saturday.

They should pick the game up for a "test drive" and see what kind of ratings it picks up.

It's a great idea, except they should skip the exempt part and make the games count.
Where do you get the idea the games would not count? It is mentioned in the tweet and several times in this thread that "exempt" only means exempt from the number of games allowed. You could not make them not count against the number of games allowed as the regular season schedules will be set long before these games would come along. Of couse they would count in the WL for the participants.

In my mind espn would be better to pick up 5 major fcs games a year and influence them on Thursday or fFriday nights. Ratings would be high and you wouldnt screw with team schedule.
Why would ratings be high when they aren't high for a NC game?

My opinion is the NC game is during bowl season, and played in the middle of the day. Ratings would be better, because people love football, and will watch a GOOD game if it is on. I also think that it would be sweet to have one of those games be another Cat/griz game (if they do the extra game in the beginning). there are probably no other games that would draw the amount of fans, AND viewing parties around the country.

Interesting idea, but why only 10 teams? Seems to me like 12, 14 or maybe even 16 would be more appropriate and better represent FCS nationally. With only 10 the East Coast and South teams would pretty easily fill the spots without creating alot of travel.
