Engstrom

I earned a Chem degree from UM which enabled me to pursue my chosen career and the education provided in the chem dept was fantastic at that time and the best class of all was taught by someone who I think posts on this board with some regularity. I would expect a chem degree earned at UM is still excellent preparation for anyone interested in the field whether Dr. Engstrom teaches there or not. If its an intro to chem course then the students taking that course are not looking to learn chemistry but rather fulfill a requirement for some other degree and the rigors of a more serious 100 series chem course would not be welcomed by those students. So maybe he is a perfect fit for the job. His salary probably does not fit his expected responsibility but more his past experience and time spent in higher education. That said I am not an Engstrom fan and felt he should have been removed from the position of president earlier than he was.

Slightly off topic, but I heard that the number of accounting majors at UM had dropped from about 200 down to either 110 or 120. What's with that?

I think people figured out that accounting is boring.

Perhaps boring, but the money is pretty good for the bigger time accountants. Where do you fit on this pay scale?

"Big 4 partner salaries range from $400,000 a year to $3 million plus, with the average being approximately $750,000, taking into account all new and existing partners."

Just how many job openings like this are available in this country? Just curious...
