Embarrassment to the Rivalry

What the players did was dumb, and as a fan, I don't like it. Especially because you're just asking for it to come right back to you.

At the same time, they're young, they're excited, and unfortunately acting in such a way is common among the youth. Hopefully it gets cleaned up, we'll see.

As an added note, one of the guys from Snapback sports said with all the stuff that was being said from the stands, he's not surprised and can't blame some of the players for acting the way they did. I wasn't there, and I'm of the mindset of keeping your composure and being the bigger person, but did think it was interesting.
So now the justification is youth and excitement.

It wasn't that long ago (25+ years) that scat fans were throwing batteries at the Griz on the field. Stay classy scats.

Great post.

I simply don't understand this "outmatched" belief. What I saw was a cat defense who played a high shell coverage all game long as they absolutely knew they couldn't defend our skill players, and didn't have the talent up-front to get to KAY before he killed them. The only differences in the game were a pick six by an out-of-position defender on a fortuitous bounce and a highly questionable holding call.

sdsu dominated us (and everyone) in the title game; the bubs most certainly did not.
Sacked him 4 times. We got plenty of pressure. And the Griz D couldn't get off the field when it mattered most.

Yes. Because you played shell as you were deathly afraid -- rightly -- of our skill positions and made KAY hold the ball. It's basically the Patrick Mahomes defense.

Wait. So now it's a bad thing to be able to play a shell D, still get pressure on the qb, all the while eliminating big plays from the other teams best athletes? I guess the Cats were deathly afraid all year because that's what they've done every game. My bet is they'll be deathly afraid the entirety of their playoff run as well. ;)

When you guy say shell defense, what do you mean? That by itself doesn't mean anything? There are several kinds and it doesn't always mean strictly zone.

Not at all. I thought it was a good defensive strategy against Montana's remarkable skill players.

I dare you to walk up to a complete stranger on the street and throw a peice of garbage in their face and then see what their response to you is in return, I guarantee 99 times out of 100 it won't be pleasant for you..

If you really can't see the different levels of behavior in this Instance I truly feel sorry fir you.

My first thought is the same as a lot of other people, high emotions, a Bitter, bitter rivalry despite the koombaya talk.

The players in question, in all likelihood may not have even been starters. I would assume they were backups or benchwarmers from Montana who were raised with the rivalry in an unhealthy/unsportsmanlike manner.

I used to be bad too, but I would have never thrown trash at players, ever. That's not acceptable despite what the Puddy tat players did.

I understand that emotions run high in these games. Personally, I wouldn't be upset if we never saw another Griz/Cats game again. I don't think they are healthy for the the players, fans or state. That's just me. AT least it's not like the OSU/Michigan rivalry where people are putting each other in the hospital, at least not yet.

As to these young men being kids? They're not "kids." Just because your brain isn't developed yet doesn't mean your still a "kid." that's an excuse for poor behavior and decision making. It always has been and always will be.

The trolls will say what they want in order to trigger people, fact is, a sexual gesture is inappropriate and that player should be bounced off the team. The fans who threw stuff should be identified and banned from attending games.

I understand that emotions run high before, during and after this game. Fans on both sides are guilty of over-the-top behavior. But I want to describe the actions of three Bobcat players after the game.

As time ran out and the rest of their team was running toward the Great Divide Trophy, three Bobcat players ran to the Northeast side of the stadium and started taunting the fans. This went on for at least two minutes. At which point, they started heading back to join their teammates, but then couldn't help themselves and came back again. They continued jeering and then #0 started simulating that he was jerking off. At this point, fans in the stadium unfortunately started throwing water bottles toward the players and one of the Griz assistant coaches shoved one of the Cat players trying to get them to head back with their team. Finally, a Bobcat assistant coach came over and herded the players away.

This kind of behavior not only reflects poorly on the Bobcat football team and Montana State University, but the entire Rivalry. Unsportsmanlike conduct on full display. I can only hope that in the past and next time the Griz win in Bobcat Stadium our players have more class than that.
is this over the top behavior? Griz fans need to be better too. I was once pushed over in Bozeman for being a griz fan and I hated it, so it's tough to see this behavior too.
