Eastern Washington / Montana Predictions

I think the score to this game will depend on which EWU team shows up. If we get the team that showed up at North Dakota, we will win handily. If we get the one that beat Oregon State, it's a toss up and could come down to the last possession. EWU was only up 21-14 at the end of 3 quarters vs ND. Then ND proceeded to throw a pick 6 when they were driving and on EWU's 35 yard line, followed by two 4th quarter fumbles. If UND could move the ball against them, I don't think we should have any problems. I sure hope we use the short passing game! If so, it could be a really long day for EWU, as it was very effective when we used it last week.

VS EWU that showed up vs UND
-- UM 35
-- EWU 24

VS EWU that showed up vs OSU
-- UM 35
-- EWU 42

For me, this is a heart vs head prediction. My head tells me the Griz have struggles against the top 2 opponents they have seen this year, with the OL struggling in both of those games. Losing Van hurts and no matter who the 2nd back will be Saturday, he wont bring the speed/agility factor Van has. Johnson is going to have to be at his best from the start to set up the run, not the other way around.

However, my heart tells me the Griz will hang in there no matter what. This team shoulda/coulda/woulda won last year in Cheney, but Eastern's passing attack was too much at the end. Game could go either way, wont be surprised if Eastern pulls this one out. Here's to the good guys!

GRIZ - 31

Eastern Washington - 28

Also, I forgot to mention, that if we are without Goodwin I think they score 1-2 more td's. I just don't think we have much quality depth in the secondary. Whose assignment was the Cal Poly receiver that was wide open in the end zone in OT last Saturday? I thought it was Dennards', but I could be wrong

with #21 Counts playing: we win by 7

without #21 Counts playing: we lose by 17

Gotta go with your playmakers who aren't named Van and Canada.

I think our defense plays better than we're expecting and holds EWU under their average. But, our offense plays just about as bad as it has recently and can't score enough to win. Low scoring affair.

EWU 20
Griz 13

Honestly with Van injured, the offensive coaching staff having some sort of repeating mental feedback loop that keeps making them run stupid plays that OBVIOUSLY aren't working... well

Here's to hoping the coaching staff have been saving decent playcalling for the EWU and MSU games... and Joey Counts sees the field often...

UM 49

EWU 28

This is close to the truth i think. Lets be honest, we had them last year and the griz were not the griz.

return kick for td..then 50 yard td drive and a pick 6 put GRIZ up 21-0.. furious comeback by eastern but The GRIZ will lead 43-31 and with 1:29 left ew scores to make it 43-38 ...THIS TIME THE GRIZ find a way to recover the onside kick for VICTORY!!!

Griz get rolled by at least 3 possessions.

I've spent quite a bit of time in Vegas sportsbooks...how do you bet possessions?

You should apologize to the regular Cat posters for being their fan.

Can the coaching staff game plan for Eastern? I think Tye can, special teams seems to be on fire, but the offense seems to hit and miss. If JJ and the offense click on all cylinders and they don't turn the ball over we can win this thing. If they sputter like last week and against NAU it might be more exciting than I want.
Griz...34
ewu...28

I don't think I have ever even heard of the Eastern Washington team, pards. Hell, I usually follow the East Coast squads pretty damned closely too. I know for a fact that the shutdown hit all the schools in the Capitol very hard, and I'm sure these man-kissin' yankees are no different. I think they will come into town lookin' like they got oats for sale, and end up doing an elephant walk all the way back to the District.

Like I told Donna before a session of intense, painful lovemakin' the other night, "This might get ugly early."

Grizzlies: 42
Tigers: 12

Where you been? Missed ya Man.

Prediction, hmmmmmm, the coaches actually come up with an opponent specific game plan, and the team executes it for the win!
