Early Season Losses to Va Tech and West Va.

..don't look too bad now do they!!

No they don't. The "experts" like sgf who ripped the Griz after those losses are no where to be found of course, whihc is a plus. The problem is, conference play won't raise the RPI. The Lady Griz beat Sac and msu last weekend and drop a ton in RPI.

I guess I'm not sure what the purpose of this thread is. We lost by 17 and 21. Granted they are very good teams but are we supposed to be proud that we didn't get beat by 30? We're a better team now though.

Who cares who they beat by what margin!?!? A loss is a loss. It's sad that people are satisfied with a loss to a team just because they have beat other teams too.

Turd, I couldn't agree with you more. A loss is a loss is a loss. That's exactly why I oppose the FB team playing the likes of Iowa and Oregon -- how can it be a good thing to go in to a guaranteed loss??

Having not played Ohio State, Lady Griz would not have known exactly where they were, and not have had such a long of a streak as they had after that big loss. I will take Mandy's word on how much that loss helped the Lady Griz than someone who is scared of taking on the big guns.

if losing to Va tech and WVU are 'good' are the losses to EWU and Sac st. extremely bad losses? If the griz win the BSC tourney and you were on the commitee what you think about the griz? now the debate becomes play-in game or 16 seed

Heh, if play-in means another home game i'll take it. We're probably not making it out of the first round anyway.

If the Griz get the #2 seed they automatically get out of the first round. -> insert hooray fingers emoticon.

So under the loss-is-a-loss theory, the UM women's 40 point loss to Ohio St. is the same as a 1 point loss? Do you think the ncaa selection/seeding committee will treat the 40 point loss the same as a 1 point loss?

the loss-is-a-loss theory is more that you shouldn't be proud of a 1 point loss like you shouldn't be proud of a 40 pt loss.

Hmmm, I think playing up (D1AA to D1A) is different than scheduling a tough team in D1 mens hoops.

Take PSU for example. Wasn't Oregon supposed to be pretty good early last year? We beat them on their own home court.

I'm not tooting a PSU horn here, but just trying to say that UMvIOWA on the football field is ten times different than UMvIOWA on the basketball court...
