i remember back when the two most common commonly used football stmts were:
1. Go Griz!
2. good game, but the Griz will get them next year!

enjoyed the games from way back when, but the last 15 yrs have been something special. if experience teaches us anything, we should know not to take anything for granted.

The interesting thing is there are a select few who don't think what we have now is special and want to return to the days of the "Griz will get em next year". They are also the first to likely bail off the bandwagon after 3 or 4 seasons of .500 football.

The "fans" that would bail are the ones that really are not fans to begin with...

Hammer and Player, co-leaders of the minority for mediocrity group of five people can't resist a jab at the thousands of fans that want improved competition for the Griz.

I guess you would have to first agree that playing for and sometimes winning a National Championship is "mediocrity". That is what it all boils down to.

Spank, that is a cute little moniker you got there, did you come up with that all by yourself?

The truth is you are in the minority and by a long ways. I say 80%, Rep says it's much higher than that.

I guess you have been hanging around with alot of other people with small dick syndrome so you probably wouldn't know any better.

Maybe there is another way to react to the Eagles and their new field. The one that would really rattle their chain - Ignore it, as one would any non-event.

Kudos to EWU for starting to improve their facilities and program. One thing I really like is that this project was kick started by a former player not that far removed from the program who it trying to make it better for future classes. I have no idea or information, but, other than the often mentioned Denny Wa/Griz, what former players who went on to NFL/CFL careers have given back to the program? I know of none who have stepped up like the Roos' have to support the program that gave them thier shot at the pros....any former Griz, that anyone knows of, given a pretty good chunk back to the program??????

EWU has won 3 of the last 17 against the Griz. What would not competed so well be? He's at it again.
And from what I remember, it could have easily been 14 out of 17. EWU is always the team I fear the most on our BSC schedule. They generally have equal talent in the skill positions (IF NOT BETTER) than the Griz, and have handed us a few losses at WaGriz. I honestly wouldnt be surprised if they give us a battle to the wire this season as well.
What you can remember, Cat fan, is predictable. It could have much easier been 0 of 17, than 14 of 17. With Griz margins in that period like 56, 31, 20, 18, 16, 16, 15...., it would take your best creativity to find 14 of 17 that EWU could have won. Give it your best shot; expose yourself further.

EWU last beat Montana in Cheney in 1991.

No, EWU, most recently, beat the Griz in Missoula in 2005, 20-34, and in Cheney in 2002, 21-30.

Incorrect. The Eags have not beaten UM in Cheney since 1991. In 2002 the game was played in Spokane.

Okay, sorry about that. But, EWU nonetheless won "there" in 2002.
They did not win at the future site of the red rug in 2002; isn't that the thread topic?

EWU folks, I kinda like the idea of the red field, just like I mostly like BSU's blue field. Doing something unique/out-of-the-ordinary will always bring around the haters, and that's actually their problem, not yours. Go forth, EWU.

Unique is fine - to a point. I hate watching BSU home games on TV because it is hard to follow the players in blue uniforms on a blue field.

EWU doesn't have to worry about being on TV much. I watch that one live anyway.

Well I heard through the rumor mill today, that they found a Griz emblem on around the 50 yard line. It was not buried deep enough, they uncovered it while grading.....

Seriously doubtful.

From a guy who heard from one of the bigger ups, that the turf should be here in a week. They're virtually done with the prep work, mostly just waiting for the turf to get here. Could mean Thursday/Friday, could mean next Mon. :thumb:

Does look ready for the turf itself ... only two pieces of equipment sitting on a pretty clean base, from the looks of the webcam:

Whether or not you like the color, a new field turf surface is still a pretty good deal.
