It is a sad situation but I can understand why Coach Baldwin would dismiss him, even if it comes out that this was purely an issue of self-defense. My understanding is that if you put yourself in the type of situation to where you get arrested, you are out. This may also be along the lines of violating general team rules, not sure.

As to whether or not he gets dismissed from the University - that is most likely a separate issue that will be handled outside of the athletics department.
