Draft day!

What negatives does Tripp possess. He has the right size speed and productivity... Not quite sure Tripp has a down side with the exception of being in the fcs

Obviously with all the reports out, he is the perfect guy for the NFL. I wish him the best. I just haven't seen him stand out in a Griz uniform like Kroy Beirman or Shann Schillenger, Colt Andersen or Jimmy Wilson these are the guys I am comparing him too. I may be way off base here, and I hope I am, but....

The article makes the point that many of us have been saying. He wasn't utilized as well as he could have been. Our defensive scheme held him back a little bit and took him out of position a lot I felt. Most people analyze LBs just by their ability to fill the hole and tackle. There is a lot more to the position than that and Tripp was tasked with more than most OLBs are. He was the most physically gifted and talented LB in the conference last year. His chances of making an opening day roster are very good, especially with his ability to play ST at a high level.

I see Alex Bienemann going as a UDFA and starting for an NFL team next year. Alex was a huge asset to this team, he deserves more attention than he got IMO. Tripp could go in the 6th of 7th round. He seems to be getting a lot of attention from the NFL. And i think that Coyle might, if the NFL needs more LBs this year, go in the 7th. At the very least is see him eventually working his way into the NFL as a UDFA. Hes got the talent to be starting somewhere next year.

Go GRIZ! Way to put the train back on track!

plus as somebody else mentioned, he is a good long snapper, and they are few and far between in the NFL.

I am going to predict that none of them will be on opening day rosters next September.

Bet? I will make a bet on Tripp. Name your dollar amount.
I'll bet a Benjamin that Tripp is not on a 53-man roster on opening day of the 2014 NFL season. I believe there's a small chance he's drafted, but I think he'll be exposed in an NFL camp.

Done. $100 on Tripp.

I personally think his Special Teams skills will keep him on a roster regardless of the LB

what both these dudes said:
1) think tripp will be exposed to some extent...but the speed/size/experience combo will have coaches thinking they can fix his issues
2) don't forget he can long snap, and do it well, AND be the first guy downfield on punt coverage after snapping. this may help him write his ticket.

This article has Tripp going to the Colts in the 5th round.

Tripp should be a good bet in the NFL, where he will be limited to the expectations of one disciplined position. Here he was allowed too much freedom, was often out of position and seemed to be trying to play three positions at once. He has the size, speed and ability to be very good in the right scheme.

The nice thing about the senior bowl are the coaching staffs. One side will have Jacksonville's coaching staff and the other will have the Falcons staff. Having the opportunity to practice with two entire staffs for that time will be huge.

I'm not judging your perception but I'm pretty sure Tripp has outperformed all of those players except kroy as far as stats go

Jordan Tripp has stood out in every way all of the aforementioned players reinell mentioned have. Case in point, everyone in the stadium KNOWS, if the Griz don't block the Cal Poly FG try in the fourth quarter, we all go home. Tripp, who normally lines up on the left side of the FG block unit tells coaches "let me line up on the other side, I can get to it. He said he saw a weakness on that side. First and foremost, only the best football players are smart enough to see something like that in the first place. Second, he didn't just SAY he was going to block it, he actually went out and did it. And not in some random situation. He blocked a kick when the ONLY chance the Griz had to win a game was for the kick to be blocked, or missed. I would say that's above and beyond "standing out".

IMHO, Tripp may get drafted but I doubt he sees substantial time as an OLB. He might be a special team specialist, kinda like Colt, especially if he continues to longsnap. That is a brilliant niche if he could master it.

Agreed. Tripp stood out his entire career at UM, both on and off the field. Besides being first team all-conference and all-american, he finished about 10th in the Buchanan award balloting the past 2 years. He's the 2d Griz ever to be selected for the Senior Bowl. If he performs well in the SB and does well at the Combines (which I assume he'll be invited to), he will get drafted. Jeez, anyone who cant't see that Tripp had a terrific career at UM, and is on par with the all-gime Griz greats, must be totally blind.

Tripp would be a 4th string OLB and 3rd string long-snapper at NDSU.

Ha-ha. He would be a starter and all-american there, just like he was at UM. I see that NDSU had one linebacker, in total, on the first team, second team, and honorable mention, on the all MV conference team.

Tripp would be a starter/All-American at almost any other school in the country (including FBS), other than NDSU.

They are that good. Pay attention.
