Good luck to Bobo, tear it up on the track!

We've got Marq Rogers, who is slightly taller, slightly faster and goes up and snags the ball out of the air like a Falcon on a Fish. And he's tough, did you see him hang onto the ball in the scrimmage where Justin Whitted knocked the snot out of him? Rogers will be an All-American...

You weren't quite right.

What's your point?

My point was I was giving Intuitive a hard time on his Rogers prediction. Was searching for Bobo when I saw the article on him. Crazy how much things can change.

If you are going to give people a hard time about their predictions, you have a few hundred thousand to go...

...to focus on track and field, according to the Missoulian. Bummer. I guess we'll never see if he can live up to the early hype.

What's there to focus on? You run. You stop. Doesn't seem too complicated to me. Now get your ass back on the football field Bobo!

I hope you're kidding??????

slightly faster?? I highly doubt that.

Never highly doubt IntuitiveGriz.

49.82 Bobo -- http://bit.ly/1TnW9c8

48.1 Rogers -- http://bit.ly/24aYVXl -- One of the fastest in the country.

Ok. But 400 meter times isn't exactly what I was talking about. How bout 40 or 100 meter times? This is a football discussion and 400 meter times don't translate to football. That's like saying you are faster than Bobo because you run a sub 4 minute 1600 meters!

Before anyone suggests doing both....keep in mind any scholarship would be counted against football....it's the NCAA rule

Is that just for FBS headcount FB, or does that also apply to FCS? I know for a fact that's the way it is in FBS, but does it change at the FCS level where we can split scholarships for what would be headcount sport in FBS?

I was told FCS too....I guess preventing the use of track scholarships to do an end around (pun intended ) limits by having for example your receivers run one track meet a year just to be track scholarships instead of football. Maybe I was told incorrectly, but don't think so. I would expect if okay, it would be common place. Seems two sport guys we have had, we're football scholarship guys already.

His scholarship comes from track and wouldn't count against football. Dual sport athletes can only have one main sport that they receive money.

Bobo is great at what he's currently doing, he quit the team just a few weeks into camp years ago. Anyone thinking he can play football should think again. Don't mean it as offense to Bobo, he just wasn't cut out for the physical aspect of football.

Yes. Of course. What Ursus1 and I are discussing is whether an FCS dual, track/FB player on scholarship would automatically have that count toward FB, as it does in the FBS. As of the last time I knew for sure, if an FBS FB player also runs track and is on a scholarship, it counts toward the FB scholarship limit. One could not game the 85 limit by having a bunch of dual sport athletes who got a "track scholarship" or "diving scholarship" or "rowing scholarship."

I'm just wondering if the same standard applies for FCS FB since FCS can offer partials (unlike FBS).

That makes sense to me. If not, we are missing a huge opportunity. :)

That's what college is all about. Making the transition from late teens to the adult world. There are knocks and accolades and we gradually toughen our emotions and maturity to deal with it. Responses are varied. I am happy for the kid that he got his chance and is doing the most with it as he sees it. I see anyone in his position as having admirable attributes of character. He will succeed.

I'm a timer for Bobcat Track and Field. Bobo is a great athlete and a classy kid. Since UM can't host indoor track meets we've had the pleasure of watching him run many times in Bozeman over the last several years. He is definitely a wonderful asset for the Grizzlies.

I'm confused by what you're saying. In your first quote you say it wouldn't count against football. In your next quote you say it would count against football. Am I just reading it wrong?
