Here is UM, leaving off the governments. The USFS is the largest employer at 209. Out of 28,000 grads on LinkedIN.

Microsoft 64
Direct TV 50
Boeing 56
Target 38
Oracle 35 (which I left off for MSU, which has 175 at RightNow)
Amazon 26
Starbucks 24
IBM 21
Intel 18
US Bank 18
Wal Mart 18

What?

I work for a Fortune Fifty company and we have an informal UM Grad network with over 500 members.

Little selective in your search, were ya?

Currently employed UM grads? That is a lot for sure. Is it a bank out of curio? That would make sense.

No. Those were the exact results if you pull up LinkedIn UM Alumni and then spit out the list by people reporting these companies as their employer. I didn't select anything. I excluded government organizations (USFS, Air Force, State of Montana) and private companies like Billings Clinic.
Good info...Now, to return to the subject of the thread....Do those people contribute as much as they can or did in the past? I don't because I am very disappointed in the present administration, but, have not changed my Legacy standing. Things change in life and this too will pass

What dies this even mean? Since when does MSU have a petroleum engineering program?
Don't know, don't care and that is my point. No one gives much thought to the state land grant school, outside of Montana....

OH BS. My sons are engineers and run into MSU grads all the time and they work for Google and Micron. Micron recruits MSU pretty heavily actually.

You obviously pay zero attention to the Engineering rep MSU has and who recruits employees there
You don't know just how wrong you are, there. But, like I said, don't care..

Umm..I'm pretty sure you don't know what you're talking about. I am a lone Griz surrounded by Bobcats in the Bakken...why you ask? Theres tons of civil engineering to be done here...and MSU grads are soaking up the jobs...to say MSUs engineers aren't getting placed is foolish!

Uh, Boeing might not agree.
And UND will not agree either
http://engineering.und.edu/petroleum/
it speaks well of North Dakota that they have a medical school and an engineering curriculum. The State seems to have a vision for the future when the oil plays out. Investing in good schools now is the best thing a state can do for its future citizens. They seem to be able to do that. Why not Montana? This is the time to invest in schools and our own kids and not depend upon foreign students for income. Too many Western colleges, and in my local area high schools, are recruiting students from overseas to meet the bills....

They benefit greatly from an oil play that will take us into the next century,(if were still using it than haha) but ND is difficult measure to compare ourselves to, the Bakken has put them light years in front of most states with opportunities and funds to go towards their university system and their economy. ND will be kicking everyones ass for a long time to come..hopefully we can catch up to their damn football program tho! haha

Id also say this generation of graduates has a lot to do with how much we are donating...graduates now are leaving school with 5-10xs the debt that grads did 20-25 years ago...I know I would be a monkeys uncle before I gave money to the university now with deabt from loans and the moron we have as president being the two main factors...and I love my former university....its a sad reality..but getting rid of Booby Dildo Engstrom would be a good start!
