The two ejections for leading with the helmet speaks for themselves. Beyond that the number of penalties Ferris had over their first three games is just under 20 in each game. The crowd is certainly a credit for a few of untimely penalties, as always in Wa-Griz. Are the other penalties purely undisciplined play or is it indicative of how they choose to play the game?
I think that Ferris pushes the edge of what is allowed within the rules, figuring that half of the time they won't get called and try to play it so the other team gets called for penalties too. On the PI play that the Griz got called on in the end zone you can see the WR pull himself back towards the CB to make it look like the Griz player pulled him back....worked. There was a lineman who was trying to get the thespian award by faking the effects of a late push (that didn't get called)
The Griz had more penalties than is typical for the Griz.
