While I was joking around, Hammer nailed it. GG is looking for men on here..."preference for substance". Hammer did his due diligence and warned GG about the posters on here...now I will do mine and warn the "male" and "it" posters on this board to please beware.
Wrong again. Happily married and looking to talk about football and related issues with others who share my interest in the sport. Sometimes side-tracked by the occasional unnecessary a-hole remark. I was warned by some of the smart ones that it would happen. No issue.

:pics: Be like the chick from EWU and post pics.

This site should charge fees if it is going to be taken over by the lonely housewives of Montana. Reason for hijack is probably that ISU football is also so boring, there isn't even a post on here talking about how scary good they are like mighty ND.

This has got to be the dumbest thread ever. "coaches should never touch a kid?" Anyone believing that has never coached a sport in their life or has never seen a practice in their life (except for maybe soccer). I only played high school sports, but i was knocked on my ass on more than one occasion by a coach demonstrating a block or tackle, or showing what happens when you are unprepared. Please GG, find a knitting (or soccer) forum to make your silly posts on.

It appears that GGNez is in need of a White Knight..

Hello my lady..take my hand, and I shall guide you through this scary place..

Ranco, I don't knit and I am not a fan of soccer but I do love football, that's why I am here. There is a difference between demonstrating/teaching (of course there is contact in a rough contact sport) and losing your temper.
Regardless, my true opinion lies somewhere in the middle but wanted to spark a discussion, as many of my male friends on eGriz do. It was a good one, for a while. If it helps you in the future, pretend I'm a guy when if you read my posts- might be less agitating for someone like you.

I appreciate your offer, Geddes, but I got it. Not scary....amusing at times, but not scary. ;)

Are you really trying to compare Jerry Sandusky's child molestation to Coach Kramer giving this kid a little shove? That is really pretty low IMHO to bring up Jerry Sandusky in this incidence.
Let me clarify: NO....rape is not even close to a shove. However, what I was trying to say is that a physical injury is not the only way to constitute abuse or crossing the line. What Kramer did does NOT compare to rape but it did cross an important boundary (like face-masking, chop blocking, etc). There is a good reason certain boundaries are in place.

So, would yelling at a player or cursing constitue abuse?
No. I think when you choose to play football, yelling, cursing and "tough love" are part of the deal, much like military boot camp. Your drill sargeant, however, cannot push or hit you. Players should expect to be sacked, tackled, blocked and to take some hard (legal) hits on the field- but not (again) chop-blocked, face-masked orkicked in the n*ts.
uh, what??!!! I think you meant to say "should not" push or hit. It happen's.

Yes, you are right. That is what I meant. A lot of things happen that shouldn't, that is why boundaries, rules and guidelines are set. That is why yellow flags exist. People drive drunk all the time, parents hit their kids, drill sargeants probably beat the s**t out of soldiers often. "Shouldn't" is what I meant.

I have not always liked Kramer.

I am with him on this one. He should have knocked the loser on his ass and kicked him on the ground.

This just in from Growler after we had a few beers at the Mo club. Yawn........

I've given this situation some thought since last posting....though I stick by my feelings that a coach should not lose his temper and get physical with a player out of anger (even though it is a rough contact sport) and Kramer was 100% in the wrong doing so, my knee-jerk reaction to victim-blaming (regarding those who vilified Graves) was a bit exaggerated due to personal experiences.
I believe that in this situation, if I were Kramer, I wouldn't want to coach the kid either - sorta like rehiring an employee after they tried to sue you. Tough to get a good rapport back after that.
