They're = they are; apostrophe "S" signifies possession (ie agenda's, agenda's)

Not planning on being a spelling/grammar nazi on this site, but it is easy to see why some of my thoughts are over your head.

Just read this article about some of the responses to the Kramer/Graves situation. I am disgusted by the re-victimization of this kid. I don't necessarily dislike Kramer, but he is in a position of authority and cannot and should not put his hands on a player. Just like parents should not abuse their kids, no matter how frustrating their behavior. People suggest that Derek's physical injuries are exaggerated - do you suppose any of Jerry Sandusky's victims have "physical" injuries? Very doubtful. Were they abused? Absolutely. Yellow flags are thrown for a face-mask or chop blocking, for example, whether or not anyone gets hurt. Why? Because those things COULD cause injury and are not allowed. Coaches should not put their hands on players. Period.

I'm throwing the flag on Kramer on this one.

GG, For your consideration, what if Kramer had stood perfectly still, and, one of the defensive captains had taken a 10 yard run at this kid - and knocked him on his butt? What if the captain then screamed screamed that his disrespectful attitude was bad for the team? Would Graves be suing the player?

Should Kramer sue Graves for a level of disrespect that impaired his abilities to do his job as head coach?

How ridiculous is this? Coaches teach with their hands on players daily. Pick up your flag and walk away, you are wrong on this one.
I appreciate your viewpoint on this, Bear Spray, and will concede that a law suit is way over the line. However, people publicly criticizing the kid is wrong, IMHO.

This is a kid who thought he was a ball player, has never amounted to much and certainly not gonna make a living playing this game but is too spoiled to ever want to work and so this should take care of his expenses for a couple of years. This kid hesitates and then falls. If that shove puts you on the ground, then pay back your book and schollie money because you have no right to a football scholarship. Not saying a coach shoving a player is right, but in Pocatello you get hit with winds that hit harder than that. $$$ is what he sees now and that is all he cares about.

Ok,Ok... Kramer has been punished. That's it it's done as far as ISU is concerned.
I'm not condoning abuse of any kind, but if you play "contact" sports, sometimes
things like this happen. Graves had a huge opportunity to "man up" and say; " I
was wrong to disrespect the coach". But instead he called his mommy and told
her that coach is picking on him. Mom calls scumbag lawyer ( I listened to an
audio interview with Mr. Johnnie Cochran wanabe and he is quite a peach)
The "lawyer" says I think we can make some $$$ and the rest will be history.
I'm sure they will be seeking punitive damages. I hope Edwards defends Kramer
again and sends this guy back to Alabama with his tail tucked!

This....

Didn't everyone get the memo....ISU plays flag football. The kid was totally caught off guard when someone actually hit him. Why would any kid expect football to be a contact sport. I have a spy that says ISU scrimmages all the time, but no one really knows who wins because they don't want to hurt any of the players feelings by keeping score. :coffee:

Hey GG, no concession necessary. Criticizing ANY of these kids is wrong. They're kids. This one happens to be a piece of work, but he's a kid. Had the camera not been rolling, we would be jousting over something else - probably something equally trivial! Keep up the good posting GG>

1. Thanks. :)
2. I have no choice at this point. I'm fully addicted.

Oh gawd! Did you see the incident? These guys are football players, that little shove was no more physical than a hard pat on the butt would be. It would be different if he would have head and armed him into the turf or hit him hard. For god sake, of course the coach shouldn't be hitting his players but that was nothing more that someone blowing off a little steam and putting someone in their place that obviously needed it. Kramer's style is a players coach and he usually gives the players some rope but he also demands a little respect. When the players have no respect for you as coach they run amok and you get a situation like we have here now at UM.

good post

GG.... your points are valid except for the Sandusky reference.

My reference to Sandusky was to make the point that abuse and misuse of authority come in many forms. If we allow Kramer to shove a kid (regardless of his reasons or the resulting injuries or lack thereof), then a black and white boundary is crossed - do we allow another coach to punch his player in the face if he is a huge a**hole? Sandusky is a disgusting example of extreme abuse and, the point, is that his abuse didn't leave a bruise, a scratch and nobody was knocked to the ground either. One of my favorite things about football is the clear boundaries - the flags and whistles. If you cross the goal line, your team earns points. If you are 1/2 inch short, they don't.

You may have missed my previous words: "I think when you choose to play football, yelling, cursing and "tough love" are part of the deal, much like military boot camp. Your drill sargeant, however, cannot push or hit you. Players should expect to be sacked, tackled, blocked and to take some hard (legal) hits on the field- but not (again) chop-blocked, face-masked or kicked in the n*ts."

In no way do I expect football to be anything BUT a contact sport, just played by the rules in all areas.

This ADULT missed his calling. With a flop like that, he should have been a punter. I don't see him making it on the field again, no matter what the circumstances. Hes a senior, will graduate in the near future. Job prospects in the dumper after this acting job, at least with any employer following BSC football. Maybe can memorize the following: "Would you like fries with that?"

He could have been a soccer player, what a baby.

Part of why athletic programs have problems is that players think they are higher in the food chain than the coach. Kramer has a very difficult culture to change. This kid, claiming he got neck spasms with a gentle push and roll that volleyball players do everyday without pads on, proved he is a problem and pushed (pun intended) Kramer to a spot he probably regrets. He got his punishment and it was plenty IMO. Now as to the vilification of the kid, that is happening not because he was pushed by his coach, but because how he has handled himself after....once again proving he was a punk and to a degree deserved it.
