Depth at LB

Adding in the latest Vista kid (not even gonna attempt the last name) I think we killed it at LB for this recruiting class. Next year will see a few bumps in the road, but I think we will be in good shape.

Hopefully. The most difficult position on the defensive side to recruit at the FCS level is D-line. The big school get all of the good ones. We have recruit kids who are huge, but slow, or undersized, and hope they can add enough weight to be a force at the position.

They get all the good QB's, RB's, DB's, WR's, OL and LB's too. We'll just have to continue settling for table scraps.

Not to mention they take our good coaches too. Luckily for us we're not competing with them in the football feild.

You're trying a bit too hard to be provocative and one-ups me. It makes you like a desperate stalker. If we gave you a penny for your thoughts, we'd get back change.

And you're worrying a bit too hard that every comment I make is me trying to be "provactive". Just admit that your comment about them "getting all the good ones" is a retarded one and move along...really not that difficult.

Schye... it's Schye. haha.

Some of the comments I saw on him and about Strahm give me a few doubts that he may return to LB, guess we'll see. I recall some comments from Gregorak and I think Stitt about it, will have to go back and look.

LB is tough, we've got 4 seniors that all deserve a ton of time on the field and the goal is to win right now of course, so there's no way they're going to just plug in some RS Frosh or Sophomores just to build for the future unless the game is getting out of hand.

If Thomas, Cochran, and Richtmeyer all seem to have a bright future, if you ask me. Vis is another guy that is working his way along after being converted from WR - all will be sophomores in 2016 I believe. LB will be young after this season, there's no doubt about that. I think the coaches are working on an OLB transfer as well.

I would assume the coaches will be hitting the JuCo and recruiting trail hard this off-season to get depth behind the core of Schye, Strahm, Thomas, Cochran, Richtmeyer, and Vis for the long term future.

Valid comments, and a good prospective look at the future of our LB corps. In a perfect world, you would never want your top 4 LBs to all be seniors. Building continuity at each position is every coach's goal. But it happens sometimes due to injuries, red-shirts, kids leaving the program, and having to play kids sparingly as frosh when they ideally should have been red-shirted.

The provocative nature of this post is not ambiguous. The bold above is just dumb. In a perfect world I want all the starting linebackers to be all-Big Sky conference seniors. Why wring your hands about next season? Coaches are not stupid...they will develop current players and recruit the right players for the future.

And behind those 4 seniors you'd have 4 juniors getting playing time so they could be the 4 starters next year (and so on). That would be the "perfect world".
