Yep. Kind of why I posted that. Young, but VERY successful, at every level he's been at.

It's surprising to me that people can't admit that a guy with a winning record and 16 years of head coaching experience knows what the hell he's doing.Umista said:To all you doom and gloom characters, please take a deep breath and face up to the fact that our coach (Stitt) is on top of his game. Our team is getting better, Stitts way!
He has been so damn busy he can't answer E-mails.
I did hear (from staff) we have a super bunch of kids coming....I was told to relax and be patient.
Best assistant group coaching hire in the last 20 years in my humble opinion!
Shann comes from a great family; I went to school with his Dad, tough competitor. Good to see lots of experienced Montana guys.Ursus1 said:Not sure about the LB coach, but Shann is a great hire. Montana kid, Montana player, appreciates lower classification talent can make it in BSC. Semore as DC, I like it too. As I have told many in private messages I knew he was getting it, and heard Shann was fron a very good source. It was news to me about LB guy. Glad Stitt finally announced them.
So it's OK for you to add sarcasm in a serious discussion and it not be considered smack??? Or perhaps the use of 3 emoji's allows it to slide under the mod radar ? In adult males, unadorned hero worship is what usually leads to calls for the coach's head as soon as the fan expectations aren't met. Let the coach do what coaches do, earn it. Creating a phantom history is a sure way to choose the wrong path.brewskis said:It's surprising to me that people can't admit that a guy with a winning record and 16 years of head coaching experience knows what the hell he's doing.
The work that he did at CSM was phenomenal. In the 15 years prior to his hiring, CSM won 44 games TOTAL. Imagine 15 years without a winning record. In one year, he took them to 7-4....ONE YEAR. In his 15 years at CSM he had two years where he finished with a losing record.
I mean if you don't want the guy to succeed that's cool. Just follow Gregorak's lead and find a new team.UMGriz75 said:In adult males, unadorned hero worship is what usually leads to calls for the coach's head as soon as the fan expectations aren't met. Stitt's first conference year at "Mines" as a 1-7 record; then he went 4-4 for the next three years. His only perfect season came in his fifth year when he got 8-0. He hasn't had one since. He had a 2-6 season in 2006, and a 4-5 season in 2012. His overall record is 83-44 in a conference of very small, very low budget community colleges. His record is 40% for seasons of 0.500 and under.
Chadron State offers an interesting perspective because they come to MSU once in a while and beat them in 2006, 35-24, which of course offered unlimited opportunity for mirth at the expense of the Wombats. But, they were a surprisingly good team that year. They went home and beat Bob Stitt 57-0.
MSU regained some its dignity in 2012 when it beat Chadron 33-6. But, it wasn't the same Chadron State. They went home and beat "Mines" by just 20-14. The 15 year record of the two teams is 498 points to Bob Stitt's 332. Chadron leads the series, 9-6.
That's just not "phenomenal."
If he accomplishes what everyone hopes (or "expects") at UM, that will be "phenomenal."
Go Griz!
Mines was a perennial doormat before Stitt took over. They hadn't won a conference championship since 1958. He brought them back to respectability. And they aren't community colleges. I believe Pueblo, Mines' arch rival beat Sam Houston State in Stitt's last year there. And what if they were community colleges? They were his rivals, and he was at a school that had never been able to beat the competition there.UMGriz75 said:Creating a phantom history is a sure way to choose the wrong path. I know you bring up Chadron State everytime someone compliments Stitt, but I'm going to go ahead and just believe Mike Leach, Kevin Sumlin, Sonny Dykes, Kliff Kingsbury, Dana Holgorsen, Joe Glenn, and numerous other actual coaches who are on public record that Stitt is a good coach. :thumb:UMGriz75 said:Chadron State

Sounds like two different premises to me, with the latter just arguing for the sake of it. The first post deals with Stitt's ability to turn a terrible program into a respectable one by comparing CSM before Stitt and under Stitt, which was clearly where the use of "phenomenal" came from...this to say that CSM was a tough place to be successful and Stitt managed that, which I believe was part of the reason he was hired here. 75, your post doesn't seem to even deal with the meat of the post you responded to, merely twists it to ignore the pre-Stitt era at CSM that the poster was pointing out. I understand you needed a jumping-off point for your essay, but your post was merely an aside that missed the point...but by all means, carry on.
