DeCuire vs Hauck, different public styles

In my opinion, both can be gruff when the occasion so merits that approach. But, Bobby is much more open and friendly. If Bobby sees me in Scheels, he will holler out and shake my hand. I know Travis equally well but he wouldn't make the first move in that situation. I commend both of them for having great families and for protecting them from all of the BS. We are fortunate to have both. I do wish that Travis would interact more with the fans, particularly the students. Only once have I seen him go over and high five the students in the end zone.

To their credit, neither does well at suffering fools.

Travis is great with media/public. Class vs ass comes to mind in this area.
The BH that I know is not the BH I see in the press conferences. Personally, he's very interactive, funny, respectful and never talks down. He recalls and reflects on previous interactions. As a HC and a leader we could not hope for a more quality person. But like most others, I cringe at the press conferences; he does not want to be there and makes no effort to appear otherwise. It's a shame.

I remember when I was in the marching band in college 18 years ago, I ran into Bobby in the Oval on a gameday on my way to the stadium for morning rehearsal while Bobby was heading to the team breakfast in the Lommasson Center. Bobby went out of his way to say hi to me with a big grin and a brief chat. That made a huge impression on me that he is 100% a different person, in person, than what you see when he interacts with the media. The guy is down-right down to earth 99% of the time when it's not involving the media.

I've never known Bobby other than sitting at a table at the QB club and him coming around. I ran into him in the Missoula airport well before sunrise not long ago, and when I walked by I said hi to him. I was in Griz gear, and he sat there and chatted my ear off. I kept trying to go because I didn't want to be annoying when he is just trying to get on the plane, and he kept asking where I was going, made some food recommendations, told me how much he loves certain foods there. Between the QB Club, hearing Colter talking about him, and that interaction, I was really left with the impression that he just puts on a press conference front. He was gregarious and kind. I genuinely don't get why people love to hate him so much.

Maybe because for "most people", the only public Bobby we see is the asshat at the press conferences?

I don't know...just spitballin' here...

And yet somehow they both end up being the winningest coaches in UM history in their sport. Weird.....
Agreed. They are just being themeselves. You can tell Travis enjoys the interaction with the media more. Bobby is kinda Belichick like with the media. I think his humor is kinda dry and people don’t know how to take him. But Bobby in person is pretty personable.

Lol, well put and "just spitballin'" got a chuckle. He's a lot more jovial and fun during things like the Coaches show or the Griz Den, too. So those are other avenues for folks who aren't local and don't want to pay to join the QB club.

I get that he doesn't do himself favors with the demeanor in press conferences, I'm not denying that. There are other avenues to see him without that cold facade, though.

What's weird is that that attitude has rubbed off on other coaches you wouldn't expect it from (Like Green).

Hope that doesn't increase.

I known people want to hear from the HC. But, I often wondered why BH doesn't put his coordinators front and center more. If he hates the whole circus...he has supporting staff that do some of it.

Funny as hell comparing Bobby to BB.

I have found TD to be very approachable and easy to talk to. I have had the opportunity to speak with him at several spring coaches tours in Billings. He is happy to talk about not only the previous year results, but also the upcoming year, recruiting, etc. I’ve always come away from conversations with Travis impressed with him.
Go Griz!

Randy Moss vs Griz
To say that Randy Moss single-handedly beat the Griz that day is incorrect. That was the most stacked FCS team the Griz have ever played (perhaps even without Moss), with future NFL players all over the roster, including QB and RB. Take Moss away and they were still incredible but so were the Griz. It's not a stretch to say that he may have been the difference that day but Marshall was FAR from being a one-player team. All of that said, Randy Moss was the greatest football player the Griz have ever played. One of the most athletic freaks to ever play football at any level, ever.

There are only 2 other players I've watched that gave me similar feelings when I saw them live.

One was Armanti Edwards in the 2009 semifinal, and the other was Cooper Kupp in the games he played against us. Ramses Barden (the Cal Poly WR) might be in the conversation, as well, but with those 2 you could tell something was different just watching them.
