too many fouls...Dunn is playing out of control more often than not...But, Davidson averages 89 a game...I knew going in that 3 pt shots would be the emphasis for both teams. They both did well. The refs called a hell of lot of fouls on both but UM seemed to be the ones not to take advantage...I think the Griz played better than I thought they would...Milwaukee is going to be more of a challenge and far more physical....hmmmInland NW Griz said:Is Montana's defense that bad, or just a bad game?
mtgrizrule said:No, Davidson was hitting everything. Probably close to 25 points with GRIZ defenders in good position, and/or long 3's. Plus officials were calling a lot of ticky tacky fouls that are not normally called. Credit Davidson, there is very little a team can do when a team gets in a zone like they did.
The difference in the game was at the FT line.

Doesn't connect unfortunately---tried it earlier as well.

I've heard Davidson is supposed to be deadly on offense. It just seemed like they answered with a bunny everytime the griz made a big shot or an and one. Granted I'm a b-ball tard and only listened to the radio feed.I'll take you fellers word for it. Super excited for league play to see where they stand!

grizzlyjournal said:Just returned from the game & read a few negative comments about the Griz, most of which were so off base it'd be hard to respond... so I won't.
What I will briefly state is that I have attended well over 95% of Montana's home games since the mid 1950s (cept for a couple of years in 'nam) and I can easily rate this as one of the 50 best games I've ever seen live in Missoula.
The Griz went toe to toe with a team I believe will be top 50 before long, a team that was fast, physical and well-coached.
Yet there the Griz were with about 3 minutes remaining, down by only 3 points and within striking distance. Two very clutch Davidson threes -- both with the shot clock set to expire -- put Davidson over the top.
I have the greatest respect for the energy, fight and persistence of our Griz. I have the greatest respect for Travis DeCuire, who is a true rising star among college coaches. Hope we can keep him here for awhile, because if we do it means the resurgence of great Montana basketball.
Word is going to spread about this team. In fact, the common verbal reaction by fans as they walked out is that this was a great game and that they believe Montana will be in the battle for the Big Sky title... THIS year!
Awesome. If you have a chance to view the game video again, watch DeCuire over the final 10 minutes. He DEMANDED focus, energy, vision and TOUGHNESS from his occasionally overwhelmed team. And they responded. I think they walked off the floor believing that they can play on a level with the best mid-major teams in America.
There was some disappointment on players' faces... but NO heads were hanging.
I can't wait for the rest of the ride.

If the Griz play like they did tonight but cut the fouls, they can win that one going away. But, Milwaukee is a very physical and aggressive team, so UM needs to move the ball just a bit faster...I feel good about this team even when they lose..This is so much more fun to watch than what we've been used to for the past few years.
thanks..will hopefully watch it but it is on Sunday the 14th...WyomingGrizFan said:GrizLA said:Another great challenge coming up on Sunday in Milwaukee with a team that plays a totally different style than Davidson.
