Davidson Game

What a fun game to watch. I guarantee there are not too many teams we face that have an offense like that. GRIZ played about as good as they can on offense. Gregory missing FT's more often than he should. What a game for Gregory, Breunig, Edmonds. Too bad the GRIZ lost. I hope this is a confidence booster for the offense.

No, Davidson was hitting everything. Probably close to 25 points with GRIZ defenders in good position, and/or long 3's. Plus officials were calling a lot of ticky tacky fouls that are not normally called. Credit Davidson, there is very little a team can do when a team gets in a zone like they did.

The difference in the game was at the FT line.

too many fouls...Dunn is playing out of control more often than not...But, Davidson averages 89 a game...I knew going in that 3 pt shots would be the emphasis for both teams. They both did well. The refs called a hell of lot of fouls on both but UM seemed to be the ones not to take advantage...I think the Griz played better than I thought they would...Milwaukee is going to be more of a challenge and far more physical....hmmm

I only got to watch the last 12 minutes but it looked like a GREAT game. Breuning is going to be so hard to stop in conference. He seemed like the best big on the court tonight. Certainly the most polished. Down the stretch the Griz seemed to be trading punches with Davidson pretty well without issue. It was some great back and forth ball. Davidson just had some great, clutch 3-point shooting that helped them pull away. It still sucks to have a "good loss" but if this is a hint of what lies ahead with Decuire teams, then the Griz are in good shape. Really excited for the Bolomboy/Breuning matchups.

I've heard Davidson is supposed to be deadly on offense. It just seemed like they answered with a bunny everytime the griz made a big shot or an and one. Granted I'm a b-ball tard and only listened to the radio feed. ;) I'll take you fellers word for it. Super excited for league play to see where they stand!

That's where I am, also...great announcers. The commercials make me want to grab the next flight to North Carolina....

thanks LA!

Doesn't connect unfortunately---tried it earlier as well.
go to Davidson College athletic site...click on the audio...

Tried that several times before I saw the post and after as well--just one crappy cyberspace night... :x

They did penetrate and get to the paint a lot more than most teams have against us. Then again, they are one of the top offenses in the nation.

how 'bout this-- Davidson shoots 59% FG's..43% from 3 ..and 94% FT (34-36)..fun game to watch even with the refs whistle happy. Good game from Griz even with that hot shooting , never gave up.

Just got home from the game. What a tough loss for the Griz. Davidson is a damn good team and just kept coming up with answers for Grizzly runs. Bruenig got in foul trouble early and didn't play toward the end of the first half, we could have used him for those minutes. The griz hung tough and made it a game until the last couple minutes. I keep saying it, but I think these guys will be ready come conference time.

Another great challenge coming up on Sunday in Milwaukee with a team that plays a totally different style than Davidson. If the Griz play like they did tonight but cut the fouls, they can win that one going away. But, Milwaukee is a very physical and aggressive team, so UM needs to move the ball just a bit faster...I feel good about this team even when they lose..This is so much more fun to watch than what we've been used to for the past few years.

Just returned from the game & read a few negative comments about the Griz, most of which were so off base it'd be hard to respond... so I won't.

What I will briefly state is that I have attended well over 95% of Montana's home games since the mid 1950s (cept for a couple of years in 'nam) and I can easily rate this as one of the 50 best games I've ever seen live in Missoula.

The Griz went toe to toe with a team I believe will be top 50 before long, a team that was fast, physical and well-coached.

Yet there the Griz were with about 3 minutes remaining, down by only 3 points and within striking distance. Two very clutch Davidson threes -- both with the shot clock set to expire -- put Davidson over the top.

I have the greatest respect for the energy, fight and persistence of our Griz. I have the greatest respect for Travis DeCuire, who is a true rising star among college coaches. Hope we can keep him here for awhile, because if we do it means the resurgence of great Montana basketball.

Word is going to spread about this team. In fact, the common verbal reaction by fans as they walked out is that this was a great game and that they believe Montana will be in the battle for the Big Sky title... THIS year!

Awesome. If you have a chance to view the game video again, watch DeCuire over the final 10 minutes. He DEMANDED focus, energy, vision and TOUGHNESS from his occasionally overwhelmed team. And they responded. I think they walked off the floor believing that they can play on a level with the best mid-major teams in America.

There was some disappointment on players' faces... but NO heads were hanging.

I can't wait for the rest of the ride.

Great game. Davidson is very good. We couldn't defend them much of the time, especially in the second half. They beat us off the dribble time and time again. Thought UM should have tried some zone. Man wasn't working. Davidson had trouble stuff UM too, especially Breunig. He is getting better every game. He's headed to conference MVP, just like Tinkle predicted.

Don't know why Dunn didn't get back in sooner, after sitting with 4 fouls. Thought he would have defended better. Edmonds isn't the greatest defender. Can certainly shoot. Don't know why we let that quick, strong guard drive to his right so many times. Don't know why Kemp didn't get some minutes in the second half, as I thought his minutes were good in the first half.

The refs sucked, especially in the second half. Truly pathetic. I've never seen so much of the Griz crowd on the refs, for almost all of the game. Davidson shot the lights out from the free throw line, and much have made about 30 free throws.

Lots of potential on the Griz. They need to step it up on defense, in my view. Got beat off the dribble too much, and gave up a few too many open look 3's.

That's exactly what I felt about this team watching from the 12 min mark on. They are so much fun to watch and such a different game from last year.
