Davidson game thread

So far everyone in the BSC is playing well in their games, but not wins yet. EWU is looking good with a 10 point lead over SHSU and PSU and NCU are in tight games as well.

His range is a few feet closer than that heave. Especially bad when they could not stop him in closer and we have other good 3 pt shooters on the court too. Without him, we would have lost much earlier though. He had a great game, and one I hope carries over for rest of the season.

I pray both come back. I know for fact Ward is out 2 to 4 weeks. If he plays before then, he will be playing pretty hurt. Cherry, likely done for the year. I too hope that is not the case.

If they are out, we get a little extra experience toward next season. The GRIZ are deep and have other players very similar to Ward and Cherry. Coleman can be another Ward, with better defense. Gregory, Deshields, Henderson all can fill in for Cherry, but none of them can impact the game with steals like Cherry does.
 
I will admit, I predicted a blowout by them, since we dis not have an inside game to match up with them, which is their strength. The Griz must have manned-up and sucked it up. We are so unlucky with both Ward and Cherry going down right at the end of the season. Tinks just can not seem to get a break regarding the injury thing.

Careful, I said the same thing at the beginning of the season and got flamed for it. I completely agree with you though.

he was worn out, he litterally made all the plays at the end of the game. he was tired, i dont blame him for the shot. I think Wayne understood it too. It was a great game to go that far and play with that good of a team without your highest scorer and with Will being out most the game. a few things are clear after today.
1. Jamar will be a great senior next year and is a amazing player
2. Martin will be really good after he gains some weight and gets coached up by tinkle.
3. Jordan is getting the feel for the game but is still out of control, needs to lean to control his body when making a play
4. This team will not play as bad a they did vs weber
5. Keron is coming along nicely and has a ways to go, but has a ton of potential leading the team.
6. Davidson is a great team with a ton of threats! they should scare any team they play in the NCAA.
7. The dancing bear is one of the best coaches we have ever seen and i pray he decides to stay around for a while! he really calmed the team down at half and when will got hurt/foul trouble. He really motivates the players and is a stand up guy. The 2nd half improvments were outstanding.
8. I LOVE THIS TEAM!! I LOVE WATCHING THEM PLAY AND I THINK IF WE DO GET THE NCAA, WE ARE A THREAT TO ANYTEAM. :thumb: :clap:

tell that to a kid who is a senior and has his degree and has a chance to play as a pro somewhere! Trust me, that choice was given to Will and he wanted to play this year.
 
Offensively this team looked great no matter who was on the court. A few missed easy shots too: Gregory, Jamar (2 or 3), Will. We sure could have used one of those. Offensively if we get what we did from Hutchison and Martin every game that will help. Rebounding has to improve though.

Yes with Mick's postgame. Let me rephrase that, not really disgruntled, but what he did not say concerns me. Normally when there is something negative, Wayne balances it with positive. If i had heard "Will hurt his foot or ankle, and could not return for this game. We expect him back, he is tough." I would be encouraged he will be back. Instead, Wayne barely mentioned it, but professionally gave everyone credit for stepping up.

I don't have a good feeling about Cherry's injury. Again, not anything Wayne said, but what he did not say. After listening his post game interviews for several years now, I get a lot from them. Hope I am misreading Wayne on this one.
 
Cherry's expression on the bench makes me nervous...pure speculation on my part, but the look on his face sort of said "oh f@@k, not again" when he was on camera. Nothing to do now but hope for the best.
