42" vertical is elite. That's a crazy number.

Top 15 guys are either WR or RB’s.

His # puts him tied for second with EVERYONE at the combine.
ESPN.com recently published an article of combine records, and top performances over the past decade. The combine record (since 2006) for top vertical jump is 45 inches, measured twice by 2 different corner backs; Vernon Davis (TE) jumped 42 inches in 2006.

Broad Jump: 124" (10' 4")

This mark tied him for 7th place among linebackers, placing him in the top 11 at the position.

42" vertical for Dante........that is impressive. NFL commentators were quite impressed with that. Dante getting early publicity in the program.

His 7th place finish puts him in the top 11? Crazy.

4.89 on 1st 40

This is the problem with the combine. His 4.89 looks like shit compared to some of the top times....but the combine doesn’t measure heart, football IQ and understanding of plays as they develop....all those things Dante is off the charts in...

Fortunately, the combine results are only one metric used in player evaluation. However, his 4.89 40 time may hurt his draft stock, being the 3rd slowest time among linebackers tested today.

Anybody drafting Dante knows about his lack of 40 speed. In reality flame out combine stars like Marvin "Shade Tree" Jones and Keith McCants, and to an extent Mike Mamula have made GM's and Scouts more wary of the intangibles instead of the scores. This helps Dante, cuz that dude can ball.

Bruce Arians quote
"You might run a 4.3 [at the combine], but your tape says you're 4.6. You might run a 4.6, but your tape says you're 4.4. The tape don't lie. The combine lies. You can fall in love at the combine and get your ass broke," Arians told reporters Tuesday.

Does your football opinion count if you've worked with the Cardinals?

Two more combine results for Dante today

3 Cone Drill: 7.00 seconds (tied for 5th best among linebackers)
20 Yard Shuttle: 4.32 seconds (tied for 11th among linebackers)

Lost in a lot of this is the fact that the dude’s name is Dante Olson. You gotta draft him on name alone for an LB spot. Add in the pure talent, and it’s a no-brainer. Because there is nobody named “Tackles McFourthdownnow” in the draft this year (yet again), Dante wins the most badass name in the combine by a landslide.

My wife wants another cat. If I succumb, thanks much for its name CDA!

Yeah, I didn't word that very well. Really, he tied for 9th place in the broad jump, and 11 total athletes had jumps equal to him, or better.

According to the journal of the National Sports and Conditioning Association, vertical leap is the #1 indicator of draft status.
