Damian Lillard...please go to the NBA.

Doug Gotlieb recently said during a segment on ESPN that he expects Lillard to be the first point guard taken in the 2012 draft.

Growler 1 just bought the Alanta Hawks certainly he should know if they consider Lillard a NBA Point guard?

Who was better in college? Lillard or Stuckey?

They're different. I think Stuckey was probably stronger and more phyiscal, while Lillard is probably a better shooter.

I'd say Stuckey was a better passer/floor general. Lillard is quicker.

I'd say it's a toss up. Both are very good players.

I just don't think he's NBA ready yet. Maybe I'm wrong, let him pore it. I just think it would be smart to use te senior year to get even better. I'm also not saying Will is ready. I think he still has plenty of room to improve. Both are definitely NBA prospects, but I think bog should stay in college another year.
Give me a freaking break. So you know more than the 30+ NBA scouts and execs that have come to watch Lillard play all year, and all of the NBA draft experts? If he wasn't ready to play in the NBA then he wouldn't be rated as the top PG in the draft and a potential lottery pick. Damian couldn't be more ready for the NBA. He would be a fool to stay another year. He's already been in college for four years and is set to graduate this spring. Why stay? He's got guaranteed millions waiting. Staying would be making the same mistake Harold the Show made when he stayed after beating UNC and dropping out of the draft all together. I totally expect homerism on this board, just don't be blind to the facts people.

Cat, you've been on here a couple years so you're old enough to know to read the whole thread before you assume the two of three guys who are dismissing your program and/or players speak for all of us.

SWebercat..I don't have a dog in this fight but just saying "The Dame" first round talk may be due to those purple colored glasses your sportin'. Lilliard's shot is better than Stuckey's. Stuckey's size, toughness, ball handling and the unbelievable ability to attack the rim despite a clogged up paint made Stuckey ready for the NBA. He could take it to the hoop anytime , anywhere and everyone knew he was going to do it, yet nobody in the league could shut him down.
As far as my predictions go please see my pregame note this week regarding "The Bam".
I predicted him shooting 2-11 with 3 charges.
I think he went 4-13 with one charge. Second one could have been called.
Seriously... Lillaird early to mid second round. Good luck next week. :thumb:

Agreed. Fixed.

Did you not look at the link I provided above? I'm just speaking facts. All of the draft experts and draft boards are predicting Lillard to be a first rounder. Here are more links, check them out for yourself.

http://nbadraft.net/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Lillard 20th

http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/draft/results/top100?year=2012&action=login&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fnba%2fdraft%2fresults%2ftop100%3fyear%3d2012" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (Chad Ford) Lillard is 13th best prospect

http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-mock-draft/2012/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Lillard 17th

When Gutierrez shut "The Dame" down at Cal just before Christmas a lot of eyes were opened. Lillard needs space to catch and shoot. Hawk him off screens and deny him that space and he's off kilter. Did you watch this week's game? Bamforth's problem was he forgot to wear his left arm long underwear sleeve thingy.
These are the same draft gurus above that are predicting Weber to upset a high seed in the first round of the NCAA. I concede that it's quite possible "The Dame" will light up the NIT and move up in the draft.

Fantastic Talent.

... There’s no question the 6-foot-3 point guard is even better. The Oakland, Calif., product averaged 19.9 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game in his sophomore MVP season. This season, he is scoring at a clip of 24.5 ppg, second in Division I, and has increased in rebounds (5.0 rpg) and assists (4.0 apg) while developing into one of the most efficient players in the country.

If that's true, and he is a potential lottery pick, then this is a no-brainer....he goes. He'd be stupid not to. I can't believe from what I watched the other night that he is a potential lottery pick though.

I will say, I haven't seen a shot that pure in a long time....and the dude plays under control, doesn't really jack up ill advised shots, which he could if he wanted to...

One game of seeing him though, very narrow sample set....

How ironic would it be if he ends up with Memphis?

The Grizzlies

Or charlotte, or new orleans

there is a team in L.A. in dire need of a point guard - and it isn't the clippers - mid to late first round would fall right into where Mitch & Co would be slotted to pick with one of their picks this year. I haven't watched much of him but did notice he didn't really force anything the other night and is definitely smooth. However I think Cherry outplayed him and if not for a bunch of free throws in the first game he's had two subpar games (by his standard) against the Griz this season.... hoping for a third if they do meet up on Wednesday!
