Dallas Cook Signs with N. Dakota State....College of Science

So when is someone going to come out and say that this kid was just way over hyped by the bubble he had surrounding him, wasn't worth two shits for big time programs and went to JUCO because he has JUCO level talent? Not being able to get into a school because of grades specially as an incoming athlete? Come on, the schools these days will practically kick the door in for you if your coming to play at their school. Sounds like excuses from his Butte fan base to me. This kid was nothing more than a good Montana high school quarterback.

Uh, I think Alpha has been saying that pretty much exactly for months now. :lol:

This appears to be the local press, for those interested in following his career.

The more I read, the more I am ECSTATIC we signed Weyer instead of Cook.

As you should be. Weyer is a far better QB, especially in the system that we run.

I also think Weyer is better than Gustafson...in my mind, he's one of the top QB's Montana has produced in a while that isn't on a Brock Osweiler level. I'm very glad we got him.

Prediction: Cook attends North Dakota school of the prairie and will wash out! Cook will not be at an FCS or FBS school! Hope his old man is reading this too. Maybe you should have worked with your son on home work. Main goal, to the NFL. OK... That's a pretty small percentage of people that can get to that level. Papa Cook you have not done your son any favors!

Don't know about any of the who's better stuff or about Dad. But if I was the Dad this would get my attention: http://admit.washington.edu/Paying/Cost#freshmen-transfer" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

$47,000.00+ for one year at the U of W as a non-schollie student would grab my attention real fast. Seems like a pretty big gamble to me. Way too many things to go wrong not even considering not making the team. If hes good enough to make the big time, he'll make it. perhaps 100K out of pocket tempered Dads expectations.

As a junior, Cook played against Bozeman in the state championship game. Weyer was the QB for Bozeman. Both were outstanding but Cook was the difference in the game which Butte won. I believe that Weyer is a great recruit for the Griz. His passing ability and arm strength are really impressive. He does have questionable mobility. Last year he ran for a total of 48 yards the entire season behind an excellent offensive line. Not sure if he likes to run, but he can be a good college QB and he looks to be fairly athletic. I expect that Cook will succeed in college. He has a quick release and is accurate. He likes to run and is as physical and tough as anyone on the field, and obviously has great size. He is bigger than most of the lineman. I don't see a problem with him going to a JC especially if the rumors about his academics are true. He plays smart and does not throw many interceptions. For both of them, only time will tell.

Speth, not knocking Dallas Cook whatsoever, but I was under the impression that a LONG kickoff return and a FG as time expired was the different in the 2012 state championship game.

Well, those were key plays at the end but the kickoff return did not make it to midfield. After the return, a Cook run and then a pass put Butte in field goal range. When I said that I thought Cook was the difference in the game I was referring to his performance during the entire game. Butte was well ahead until Bozeman staged a comeback within the last few minutes..

People do realize that how things play out for Cook has absolutely nothing to do with football, and even less to do with high school football....

:shock: you may want to go back and look at the stats from the 2013 season.... he had a couple of games with 4-5 interceptions. Of course when you put it in the air 50+ times there are more opportunities for ints....

I have looked at his stats which are published online. In the 10 game regular season he threw 410 passes with 39 td passes and 10 interceptions. That is not a lot of interceptions especially for the number of passes thrown. And he threw fewer picks as a junior.

I don't understand why there seems to be so much animosity for this kid. The point is he is just a kid and I wish him the best of luck in his career no matter where he goes to school. If it turns out he plays for the Griz eventually great. If he doesn't, I hope the only games he loses is to us.
