Cuts Happening?

Welcome to D1 football, coach. Time to start acting like a professional D1 coach.

Stitt has got to stop expecting the media to do as he says. A media member filming highlights from practice IS NOT going to lose you any games. So stupid... Fighting the media is a losing battle.

He could learn a thing or two from coach Klieman over in Fargo.

Honestly....who cares if he closes practice....what is the big deal if he sheds some players....the media doesn't need to know everything....or be in on things...

Griz CB Parker was let go not because of ability but because apparently it wasn't a good fit chemistry wise #GrizFB

That's understandable. Interesting that some on here know players that are high on Stitt and respect him and others claim they know players who think he is a jerk. Always a tough job to get that many kids and staff that have to spend that much time together in a very competitive environment to not only get along and work together but to sacrifice unselfishly for the better of the team as a whole.
Hauck not widely popular with his players. Didn't have to be.

Have zero issue with the cuts.

Him fighting the media is just stupid. Promote your program.

Not sure he is fighting....I think he is just standing his ground...

This. My guess is Colter thinks twice next time before he pushes "send" or "post" or "twit" or whatever he pushed to be the first to get what he thought was legitimate information out there.

Just my opinion, this isn't the pros. That's why you give a guy a few years to be where he wants to be. Because he has at least a couple years without having "his guys". This sucks for those young men who bled for all of you griz fans.
You think this is not going to happen at MSU by this time next year?

Stitt just goes down to the All Amercan player store and gets 3 qbs, 4 offensive lineman, 3 top WRs, 2 running backs. Get real.

Everyone on the board was high on Pflug, I'm surprised by that cut.
That right there tells me all I need to know. Most of you guys like Nguyen and Schmaing too.

Alpha keep his streak of never being right on anything involving Griz football. Some quotes from him on Pflug from 3 prior posts.

"Pflug is better than JJ right now and his ceiling is still being designed"

"Pflug out of high school is already better than JJ was as a sophomore."

"Pflug is the best. Hands down. He moved the ball down feild quicker than any of the QBs this weekend."

He told the team that the roster would have a new look come spring in yesterdays team meeting. What really should be talked about is the overwhelming amount of dislike the players have for this guy. The complete opposite of a players coach he treats his guys like crap.

I'm calling BS on this one.

I have about 1000% more knowledge on this than you :thumb:
Oh goodie, another insider. Just what this board needed.

Stitt better have a plan. I'm not a fan of cutting players that have been with the system for awhile and have worked hard.

Ya think maybe he's a player or now ex-player? Some of you guys can be real assholes.

There is always fallout when there is a coaching change. Some players just do not fit into the new system.

Not to hard to believe. Look at how the guy has handled himself this year. Perhaps there really is a reason he was Colorado School of Mines so long. I don't know, but I would not be surprised if 2-3 years from now this has become the Pat Kennedy hire for football.

"fighting" was probably too much. but it's not a great relationship... it shouldn't be a problem.

While I feel sorry for players getting bad news, and know that it is usually very upsetting to them and their families, it does occur--especially when new coaches come in. My view is that giving them an indication now, or even cutting them, is a humane way to do it. They don't have to go through all the winter early morning workouts and spring ball. They can look for a new program sooner, if they want. They can move out of their apartments now, and don't have to come back in January.

I'm surprised by some of the news, and assumed some of these guys had potential. I'm sure all or a number of them will do well at their next place if they want to keep playing. And for some, it will be nice just to kick back, be a fulltime student, and have some fun--either here or elsewhere. College sports, especially football, is such a huge commitment.

I wish them all the best. I enjoyed reading about them, seeing them play, and seeing them practice. I hope they had many good experiences while they were at UM and in the program.

Well said.

PR, well said. I too feel sorry for the players who got cut. In Pflug's case, I know he really loved Montana, and, he gave up a half year of high school for this program. Really a raw deal for him. Honestly, and selfishly, I would absolutely love to see him go to Southern Oregon, so I can watch him a couple of times in Havre, and see him win an NAIA national title there. He is absolutely perfect for that program and he would eat the Frontier alive.

Having said that, after listening to Stitt today, and looking over the Griz roster pretty closely, and taking into account that the Griz are still on a schollie reduction, I have no problem with Stitt making cuts. He wants to bring in more transfers for the D-line and O-Line. I'm sure they already have some guys on the hook. They need full rides for transfers. It's the only way they can come to Montana. I don't know if it will work out, but that's his plan, and I respect his plan. Obviously, it's a plan that isn't popular with those that got cut, with some of the current players, and with a lot of parents right now. But, it's his program, and he has the right to build it however he wants.

it seems like most of us keep going back to Willy's talent. There is no doubt the kid has some skills. Maybe it goes beyond that maybe there was some attitude or other issues that we are unaware of. i'm sure it will all come out in the long run but I keep thinking there's got to be something more to the story.

Pflug getting cut really surprises me. No on can question his commitment to the game of football having graduated hs early and enrolling here right away so he could get the hang of the college game right away and build relationships with the rest of the team.

Watch him end up at Eastern or on some other big sky conference team and light us up for the next four years. That would be karma.

Baldwin wanted him badly and that is one guy who has been successful at recruiting QBs. I wouldn't doubt that happening one bit. Yuck.
