Curiosity Kills the cat

This one is simple. FCs is now watered down except for the Mo Valley and BSC. Even those conferences have plenty of weak teams. Can’ts will be top 10 this year and then lose their coach within 24 months, maybe as long as 36 months. Fan base will turn sour on Vegan. They had a great run with Choate and his recruits. Vegan isn’t the same recruiter and Choate had the advantage of a Griz program in absolute turmoil. Can’ts fans are used to winning and being competitive the last decade. It will sting to lose again. Many of their fans don’t realize that Anderson and Mellott were rare talents that come along once in a blue moon. Also Cruzado is gone and she probably left a precarious environment for the new president. There will be a microscope on behavior now. Something Vegan hasn’t done a good job of controlling with his coaches. Top 10 in FC’s isn’t saying much. Top 5 is very respectable. Cant’s should end the season at #6 or #7 unless their QB situation is an absolute disaster. Can their run game flourish without Mellott under center? Doubtful.
The Griz under Hauck’s second tenure have finished inside the top 5 once from what I can find.

Yes, it shows how far the program has to go. It’s a good point. It also demonstrates what happens when a program has to rebuild from a mess. Griz dominated for so long, had a terrible moronic President who tanked the program and it has taken years to get back to where there is a chance to be in the top 5 every year. Recruiting was a given for the Griz in the past. They got about everyone they wanted in the state of Montana and had top notch talent from out of state. The tide turned with the Engstrom debacle. Yes, Engstrom. Not JJ, not Pflu, not the AD. Nope, Engstrom and Pat Williams for that matter. Hurt recruiting due to a coaching carousel and a really bad head coach hire.

Cats have won 6 of the last 8 rivalry games! Thats a pretty good run. They were the best team in the nation last year for sure but didn’t show up in the first half of the Natty. As for this year, I expect them to be dominant again. The Stanford kid is a stud. O and D line still the best in fcs. Best running back room in FCs. 2 deep is loaded with Montana dudes, there is no doubt who has won the in state recruiting battle the last few years.

If "They were the best team in the nation last year for sure," there would be no need for a but in there. BUT MY ASS!

Preseason champs baby! Cats are the bestest at everything including coach DUI cover ups!

The rivalry game is in Missoula this year. The natty last year is not the only time MSDUI has failed to show up. They've been blown out the last two times in Missoula even with touchdown tommy and this just in, he's no longer available. They will see first hand the best running back room, wearing maroon.

"They were the best team in the nation last year for sure but didn’t show up in the first half of the Natty. " They played a game on a neutral site to decide that. So they were not.."for sure."

Watched a pod cast on Youtube about the upcoming BSC season they focused on Montana,Idaho EWU and the cats.
The three guys from Montana all pretty much said that the rb's and OL were so good for the cats that a QB was not a big deal , whoever they put back there would be fine. Only the guy from Idaho stated hold up
Losing Tommy will take the fear of him running for long touchdowns and allow defenses to stack the box and play without fear of Tommy pulling it for huge gains.
I agree with the Idaho guy Tommy was special and though the cats will be very good ,they will miss Tommy.

Let's do the analysis for the last 10 years:

2014 - Griz 3rd, scats 4th
2015 - Griz 3rd, scats 9th
2016 - Griz 8th, scats 9th
2017 - Griz 6th, scats 7th
2018 - Griz 6th, scats 4th
2019 - Griz 3rd, scats 4th
2020 - Not counting
2021 - Griz 4th, scats 2nd
2022 - Griz 6th, scats 2nd
2023 - Griz 1st, scats 3rd
2024 - Griz 5th, scats 1st

Based on those results, the scats HAVEN'T been having great results for awhile now. For the last 4 years, yes. The last 10, no way. Griz average finish over the last 10 true seasons - 4/5. Scats - 4/5. So the Griz and scats have had similar results.

I think the scats will be good this year. Will they be great, doubful, but that remains to be seen. They lost a lot of talent from last year's squad, especially at one of the most important positions in football - QB. They also lost All-Big Sky Conference players Scottre Humphrey - 1st Team, Conner Moore - 1st Team, Rohan Jones - 1st Team, and Andrew Powdrell - 2nd Team to the transfer portal. Brody Grebe - Big Sky Defensive POY, Marcus Wehr - 1st Team ABSC, Cole Sain - 1st Team ABSC, Rylan Ortt - 1st Team ABSC, and Tommy Mellot - BS Offensive POY graduated and Brody, Marcus, and Tommy went to the NFL. You don't lose that level of talent in one year and replace it with the same level of talent. Where they finish in the BSC standings will come down to how well they replace the huge talent losses, who they play and when they play them, and how healthy they stay. Honestly, with all of the talent they lost off last year's squad, I'm extremely confused why most people are picking them to be as good again this year.
Couldn’t agree more with your last sentence.
