CSF/GRIZ II

maritn is a good free throw shooter..looks like a good call..NOW
why was stauds passing it in and not shooting the free throws?

did we hoomer reffed again? goal tend at the end.
!!

oT .andrew..ake some free throws

game. i hate this. this is unbelievable. fucking unbelievable. we got homered again. but even so. we should've had it. fuck it. 0-3 on the trip, 5-7. Tinkle falls to .500 on his career.

Well, it was a new way to lose. We were down by 10 at one point and instead of rolling over, we stormed back and actually went up by double digits at one point before letting it all go.

Missing Martin down the stretch hurt badly. He hits FTS and takes care of the ball. Sounds like there were 2 very questionable no calls. 1 Strait's last shot could have been goaltending. 2, Tinkle went postal on Hasquet's 3 should have been a shooting foul too. GB, CITY, or anyone there, what do you think of those 2 no calls.

With talent on hand, Why have CET in there when we need good FT shooting? Rundles, Staudacher, Graves would have made much more sense to me. Well by the sounds of it, the team for the most part carried out the gameplan, minus hitting clutch FT's down the stretch. Defense played much better. Hasquet is proving to be the heart and soul of the GRIZ. Love him or Hate him, Martin is a clutch player, and is a little more of our heart than most would give him credit for. Get well soon Matt. 2 OT heartbreaking losses, that is tough for anyone. I hope they learned alot from this trip. Cannot wait to hear a report from anyone there. Tinkle coming up, stay tuned.

Free throw shooting has been the achilles heal of this team for several years now...Nothing new there-

yeah, we got fucked. if the other coach agrees then it's BS. cam makes a great pass and does what he does—redeems himself for boneheaded plays—but the refs take it away.

jeez, i just walked in, saw the final score, and thought, hey! we did pretty good tonight! did we get homered? of course! you don't have to have gone to the game to know that. that's college basketball.

lotta close losses here, three games that could have gone either way. after that miserable loss to santa clara (which just got blasted last night by stanfoo) i never thought this game would be this close.

remember, this is a flawed team. no point guard or athletic lock-down three, and if we overcome this to get to the big dance, we're now looking at a 16 seed, but redshirt saviors be on the way.

(no, i did not see this game. socal, remember.)

I said it after the CSU win and got blasted by Swilly...Rundles will not take this team anywhere.

I have never been to CSN and doubt I will ever go there again. I knew they only averaged 700 fans a game, but I wanted to see how the Griz responded after the Santa Clara game and I am glad I made the trip.

Here is my two cents worth:

Officiating: Might as well get it out of the way. Like City said, we got homered, expect it. That said, you generally are going to get goal tending calls even when you get homered. The no call on Hasquet's 3 pt attempt and the OBVIOUS goal tend on Strait's bunny at the end was nothing less than pathetic. I talked to some of the Titan fans after the game, and they ALL said we got screwed, the game should have ended with a Griz win in regulation. In spite of the bad calls, the Griz still should have won the game, but missed free throws cost them. Now on to the players and coaches.

Tinkle: I posted it after the UOP game, and I will say it again. Tinkle is getting better. Going to the zone might seem like no big deal, but Tinks took a hell of a gamble doing that against a team that has no problem launching from 25 feet, or further if it is Crenshaw. It was a ballsy move considering how the Titans hit 8 straight 3's in Missoula, and are now on their home court. The Zone really seemed to rattle CSN. I thought Tinks did a nice job tonight countering CSN's moves. The team responded to the challenge Tinks gave them after the Santa Clara game and played 40 minutes. A couple players who I had question marks about answered.

Hasquet: What can I say about Jordo that I haven't already. Griz MVP, plain and simple. I think Jordo would play on crutches if he had to. He leads by example.

Strait: Very nice game by Drew. I don't think people realize the effort he puts in on both ends of the floor. He defends his position, then he works his ass off on the other end to get in the proper position to receive the ball and score it. The Griz missed him a few times when he had his man sealed and need to continue to improve on it, although it was better than the previous games I saw.

Rundles: I posted after the Santa Clara game that Cam was showing signs of breaking out of his slump. He was into the game tonight from the beginning and is getting back to form. He needs to shoot 300 FT's a day in practice though. No guard should ever shoot them at less than 75% minimum. Cam had 5 turnovers but in fairness to him, the refs allowed him to be mugged the entire game.

Qvale: He only played 10 minutes do to the pace of the game, and the lineup Tinks had in was pretty effective.

Staudacher: He is getting better with more experience. One of these games he is going to bury 7-8 3's, mark my words. He is a pure shooter and plays D very hard. I thought he played pretty well.

Elgin-Taylor: Now I see why they recruited him. I think he earned himself more minutes. He plays great D, handled the ball well, and gave the Griz some much needed Offense.

Sharp: Not one of his better games in my opinion. I don't know what he was thinking when he shot that 3. It was early in the clock and he was too far out, and came up about 5 feet short. When you airball a 3 that bad, you know you probably should not have taken it. Kyle needs to stick to what he does best. Board the heck out of it, and play D.

I see some complaining about the OOC record, of course the Griz should have won 3 of the ones they lost, but the idea is to get better, and I think they have. Tinks could have done what past Griz coaches have done, schedule cupcakes and have a scary record going into BSC play. Tinks didn't do that because he knows it won't help his team prepare for BSC play, plus the only way for the Griz to go to post season play is winning the BSC tournament.

I think the Griz will be right where they want to be if they play like they did against UOP and Northridge. :twocents:

Uh, excuse me, but the Griz did not play CSN...they lost, for the second time, to Cal State Fullerton....CSF is a school with more tradition than Northridge..though, I suspect, this is a good year to not schedule CSN as they are looking very good.....in a town with UCLA, USC, Loyola Marymount, Pepperdine, CSBC, it is hard for Northridge to get press of any type....Fullerton, 35 miles to the south of me, is having a decent start but won't finish higher than 4th in their conference...I was fully expecting a banner year from the Griz, but, as if often the case in Missoula, "wait till next year"...in both football and basketball....

Still the possibility, although it seems daunting now, of winning the conference and getting to the dance. However, i also kind of hoped for something more. maybe that 12 or 11 seed. we'll be lucky not to be in the play-in game if we somehow make the field.
