CSF/GRIZ II

Uh, excuse me, but the Griz did not play CSN...they lost, for the second time, to Cal State Fullerton....CSF is a school with more tradition than Northridge..though, I suspect, this is a good year to not schedule CSN as they are looking very good.....in a town with UCLA, USC, Loyola Marymount, Pepperdine, CSBC, it is hard for Northridge to get press of any type....Fullerton, 35 miles to the south of me, is having a decent start but won't finish higher than 4th in their conference...I was fully expecting a banner year from the Griz, but, as if often the case in Missoula, "wait till next year"...in both football and basketball....

Yeah, I know, typo on my part. I was trying to think of a shortened version and went into brain far land. At least I got the Titans part correct. I think you are a little premature on writing the Griz off. I guess they could have done what previous Griz BB Coaches have done and schedule patsies. Then the Griz would be 11-1 or something and everyone would be speculating if the Griz will get a 12 seed in the NCAA or an at large bid if they don't win the BSC Tourney. I prefer the schedule they have, and could care less about the pre season record to be honest since it means NOTHING.

well, if ooc play means nothing, then why not skip it and go directly to the tournaments? I have not given up on the Griz...I think Tinkle is an excellent coach who will do well at UM for a long time...but, they are disappointing in their execution this season....so far....

It means nothing in the sense that the BSC gets one bid for the NCAA, and regular season champion still has to earn it by winning the tournament. That is good and bad in my opinion. The good part is it gives everyone who makes the tournament a shot at the Big Dance. The downside risk is that sometimes the best BSC team goes and the conference gets a 16 seed and has no chance at a win. I think playing a tough OOC is the only way to get better and prepare for road games in the BSC. :twocents:

You can forget about the committee, they don't look at BSC teams for at large bids. As far as recruits, they like to see what kind of teams are they going to play against. Seeing Gonzaga and UOP sure beats the hell out of Simom Fraser and Evergreen State. :twocents:

Playing a difficult OOC is truly the way to prepare our team for conference play and beyond. The same is true in football or any sport.

The committee does seed teams as well.

It does beat that, but it's almost the same effect when you lose. A win over a bad school is like a loss to a decent school.

Edit: I'm by no means we should schedule bad teams for wins. I like this schedule, I just wish we would've got more wins out of it.

Good point on the seeding Athome. I hate to bring up the damn officiating, but honestly they cost us the UOP and last night was a travesty.

If i was there i probably would've lost it. I believe cam and drew made a similar play last year for the win. Actually it wasn't similar but i think there was a cam to drew game winner last year where cam went baseline, sucked in two defenders and layed it off to drew for the win.

I would have been T'd up at UOP and last night if I was Tinks. I think he gets away with a little more because he towers over the refs at 6' 10". He was livid and they didn't T him.

I agree, that is not a time to get a T. I was simply commenting about Tinks working the officials. While the Griz did get screwed last night, at least the refs were not calling a bunch of tick tack calls on the Griz sending CSF to the line a lot like at UOP.

It may be totally and completely their fault but i hate when people do it against my team so when I do it—and i do complain sometimes—i feel bad. Thing is: shouldn't have blown double-digit lead, should've made free throws, and drew should've thrown down a huge dunk for the emphatic "fuck you for kicking our ass in our own house and starting a horrible losing streak" win. Seems like drew has missed his share of bunnies... or at least that's the way it sounds over the radio. Anyone else think he should just go up and throw it through with two hands a few more times per game?

I sure dont recall him issing 3 easy ones last night. Drew was 6-9 from the field, with one miss the goaltend. I guess Mick thinks he should shoot 100% with a defender on him then. One of the reasons I don't think Drew dunks much is because he often is making a move with his back to the basket, and is usually going up against someone bigger/taller. Drew also loves to use the rim to avoid getting his shot blocked. He isn't really that athletic so you won't see him dunk on many people in my opinion.
