Thurman is the best football poster on the board. He understands the game and has great information. PR is also a very good poster. He too understands the game and has reasonably good information. He also makes good posts on things other than football.

When I started reading this board last fall I wondered why so many posters were labeling one individual a d-bag...? What I've found in life is that super d-bags actually have no comprehension on how they earn the stars on their shoulder. At first thought it seems ironic, but after reflection it's the only way you can "earn the title". :egriz:

I agree with some of your points. I disagree with some of your points. I agree with Rimrock too. I think it is the " I want to clarify something for the less knowledgable football fans" attitude that some of the "pro starting safeties crowd " displays that bothers some posters. That kind of football snobbery is a little "childish" don't you think? Here are some thoughts concerning what you posted on this subject-

* yes a better offense in 2013 will help the overall defense. It won't help the safeties be better players but it will help the team win even if the safeties have another poor year.

*yes lack of safety depth killed the Griz last year. They had two season ending injuries(Lebsock, Coogan) during early September. That limited the options in dealing with Hermy/Tully.

*yes the safeties coach, Leon, was too old and ineffective. But he was Delaney's age so what does that say?

*Coach Pflugrad knew we had trouble at the safety position after the 2011 season. He brought in a JC transfer. That is a clear indicator of his thoughts.

*Hermanson had trouble before any injury issues supposedly came up. He looked bad in the SHSU semi final game in 2011,the South Dakota game and the App State game. Just look at the tape. He is not great in "space" and he has trouble against the more athletic players.

*Tully just can 't tackle very well and he is out of position a lot.

*yes coaches want to put the best talent on the field but some just can't evaluate talent and make mistakes. That has been happening since the beginning of coaching. There are just too many examples of big historical mistakes to mention.

*the Griz will be a much better team in 2013. This safety issue will play its self out which great. E-Griz needs to move on from this "dead horse" issue soon.

Well I was going to craft a nice respectful, educational, and sincere reply to your post CV, but since you are determined I am PR and he already did so I wont. I will make a couple quick points. Sure some may be upset that I boldly state they have less football knowledge. But anyone with real football knowledge would say the same thing. The level of misinformation regarding the safeties and even on egriz as a whole is astonishing. Just so you egriz experts know, the current players regulars get together and look at these boards as entertainment. They think some of the egriz coaching strategies, conspiracy theories, and evaluations are nothing but comical.

Also, we all know you hate Delaney, tully, and hermy. That does not mean you have to attack and accuse others who disagree with you as being the same person. Perhaps you and ursa are the same person since you obviously agree on this issue. That sounds like a great explanation.

First of all Ethel, nothing posted on E-Griz is about hate or misinformation. It's about fan opinions, entertainment and fan discussions about Griz sports. The only problem is that "fans" like you and PR take yourselves way too seriously. For what ever reason you two think you are "more knowledgeable fans" then the rest on this board. If someone says that they are more knowledgable than another poster on an anonymous board, then they probably are less knowledgable IMO. E-Griz is an FCS Football fan site for God's sake.It is not some kind of "coaches corner". I mean what is a "knowledgable" fan anyway? A high school football coach, the big burly season ticket holder with a 43" waste and a under sized Griz sweatshirt kickin' it at a tailgate party or a guy that played football in DII somewhere over 45 years ago? Since I don't see Jimmy Johnson, Howie or Terry Bradshaw expressing their views on E-Griz anytime soon, I'd say that all of us are pretty much on the same "low" level as knowledgable fans. You and PR need to "get over" yourselves and relax. Life is too short. By the way, if the Griz players are wasting any time on E-Griz and carrying what's said on this board, then that's a whole other issue.

Ok I'll give you that it is about fans opinions. However, these opinions are often based on misinformation or misunderstanding of the game. As far as you question to what makes someone knowledgeable; To be truly knowledgeable of this game I think it is important to have played and or coached at this level or higher. If not, you are GENERALY not going to understand the finer details of the game. Now, this is an anonymous message board and I realize that does not lend well to credentials. I think that is the fun part, and as far as I am concerned unless someone is offering me a job they don't need mine or anyone else's credentials. With that being said, it is easy to tell who knows what they are talking about and who thinks they are but in reality is only the fan you described above.

Just because someone thinks they are more "knowledgable", it doesn't mean that they are. After all, that belief is just another opinion. As I said in my PM reply, "true" football experts probably wouldn't waste their time on E-Griz.

I think Thurman has good info. That little rant he did in one of his first posts about Royce Engstrom wanting to cancel football in spring 2012? That's totally true. He nailed it. That's how f**ked up UM's administration was and quite frankly still is.

Yeah that was true indeed. I have a couple more shockers than Engstrom wanted as well, but that is for another day.

I'm pretty sure I know where you're going. I thought about bringing some of this up but thought it sounded so absurd no one would believe it. Not to mention there are a couple big defenders of Royce Engstrom on this board and I really don't get off on egriz drama.

I'm way late to this discussion, but going by the title I have to tell a little story that is creepily apropos(sp).
Once while hunting down by Boulder, I actually did crap on my safety. My rifle slipped off the log I was sitting on and not only did I crap on the safety, but also the trigger, bolt, sling, eyepiece of the scope, and also my lunch, which was hanging in a pack off of the rifle barrel. It was the perfect shit storm. The Elk smelled me coming from miles away that day.

Yes it has been such a rough week having to expose the facts of how football is played to those who have uneducated "opinions" about it. I tried to settle this over pm with you because unlike you I do not make false accusations in defense of posts with no facts and only opinions. I challenge you to show me how "weak" my posts were by telling me what part of them that related to football techniques, coverages, game plans, etc was incorrect.

Just because griz football did not work out for your son and he was upset with his departure is no reason to go bashing on coaches or players. I suggest you take some time off egriz to realize that bashing the coach and players will not change whatever wrong you think was done to your son when he played for the griz.

If I were you, I would definitely move on young man. You can audit my posts all you want. Unfounded accusations on a number of private messages gets you no where and it's bad "mojo". I, unlike you, will keep the person's name ,that you were defending, secret so that nobody can accuse you of being a biased poster. You said that you were 26 in one of your posts. I will caulk up your actions to inexperience and youth and I will move on.
