It makes you wonder when it is being pointed out for the umpteenth time. Are people hung up on it, or are they simply pointing out why some may question whether Colter is a UM fan?

Sort of amazing the things that people glom on to....I love it when bub trolls try to stick up for each other on here. It’s pathetically hilarious. Misery loves company, I guess.
Colter is a big boy and I’m sure he can defend himself if he wanted to and doesn’t need you crying and sobbing (“leave colter alone!”). However, he chooses not to address his horrible pod for some crazy reason. He’s had a million chances to come on here, apologize, own up, fall on his sword, etc. and we would probably stop teasing him and move on, but instead he continues to double down by claiming he doesn’t editorialize. What a joke.
Excellent response. Support local journalists folksSort of amazing the things that people glom on to....
We did that podcast to explain the procedure of writing about crime in this state. To report on issues like criminal charges and convictions, you have to have the police reports. Most county and city courthouses in Montana, you can get those reports very easily.
Bozeman/Gallatin County is very different. If you do not have a zip code within the county, you have to pay crazy fees to acquire the police reports and they usually don't come through for you until 6-9 months after the crimes have been committed. I first learned this when I was the sports editor of the Bozeman Chronicle and I was trying to report on a DUI charge for a former MSU running back. Even then, I was living in Bozeman and to get the documents in efficient fashion, I had to have our cops and courts reporter get them for me.
Because I did not have the police reports for the MSU DUI situation personally, I did not feel comfortable doing "original" reporting. So instead, we reported it on social media through by retweeting and re posting other outlets' reporting. We also commentated on the DUIs on Nuanez Now about two dozen times. I can find some episodes if you'd like. They are all public and still live.
As I said in the pod of note and as I'll say here, when we analyze and commentate on crimes now in my role as a radio host and podcast commentator, we try our best to talk about how the indiscretions impact the programs on the field. For example, if the OC or DC for the Bobcats are suspended or dismissed, how does that impact the program? We did that during this whole saga.
What it seemed like most of the people that have been critical of me and the Montana media wanted was for the people with the pen (or the camera) to slaughter and opine about the DUIs. To take a moral stand against drinking and driving.
Multiple media members asked Brent Vigen about the situation on multiple occassions. Because of MSU's instituational procedures, Vigen and no other person on campus is allowed to comment. It's their procedure to avoid getting sued, which has certainly happened to MSU before.
I will fully agree that the Missoulian used to competely unfairly destroy the Griz when UM people would get in trouble. I worked there and I hated the way a few of the reporters and an editor treated that situation. It made me sick. It's why I left and moved out of state. It's why Fritz Neighbor lost his job covering the Griz beat - because he stood up for the Griz to the insane ladies fabricating a witch hunt.
I wonder if that's why there was such a strong desire from Griz fans for the Montana media to burn Housewright and Garza at the stake?
Regardless, we only did secondary reporting on these DUIs because of procedure, logistics and costs. If your opinion is that the Bozeman media didn't cover it thoroughly enough or with enough ferocity, I certainly won't argue with you.
If all it takes is saying I'm sorry for letting Sample call some of you a fan base with a loser's mentality, and then agreeing with him, then I'm certainly sorry. Regardless, I'll keep on doing my best to produce Griz content for anyone who wants to follow it.
I know a great many people who are very passionate about the Griz who love what we do at ESPN and Skyline. I would love for that to be all of you, too.
Per the comment about not editorializing, not sure where that came from. I literally host a talk radio show for my main living. All we do is editorialize and opine LMAO
Thanks for explaining your stance on this, it should be the end of it...but for anybody who has seen what kind of cesspool this place can be at times i guarantee it won't be....Sort of amazing the things that people glom on to....

Colter wrote a great response. Your response didn’t help him. What are you trying to accomplish? Thanks for explaining your stance on this, it should be the end of it...but for anybody who has seen what kind of cesspool this place can be at times i guarantee it won't be....
Take this for what you want, but here is a word of advice for you,.
Ignore the feeble ramblings of the majority of egriz c.j. trolls that lurk over here, I'm certain you figured out who they are by now..![]()
He did write a great response, but you know as well as I do that no matter what he says I won't be good enough for some over here and we'll all know who they are..Colter wrote a great response. Your response didn’t help him. What are you trying to accomplish?
Are people hung up on it, or are they simply pointing out why some may question whether Colter is a UM fan?
I fully agree with this! The biggest problem with the media on the Bobcat DUI stuff was that they let go, and didn't challenge, MSU's totally made up and BS response on why they couldn't or wouldn't respond. MSU had already violated their supposed policy. The media should have challenged the policy, as well as asked to see the written policy and see when it was supposedly adopted. I did considerable employment law work in my 45 year legal career, including in MT. I also did legal work for MSU and know their general counsel and assistant counsels. I didn't advise on employment matters for MSU, but I could see immediately what MSU was saying was not true. I said and posted that immediately. This is my biggest gripe directed at the media. The media let MSU bamboozle them with a made-up policy.
Too little, too late. And most importantly, it doesn’t even sound genuine; more like a non-apology apology. “If all it takes…” Pfft.If all it takes is saying I'm sorry for letting Sample call some of you a fan base with a loser's mentality, and then agreeing with him, then I'm certainly sorry.
Huh? But you have no problem going hard into the Griz-fans-have-loser-mentalities theme? I guess maybe that would be “fun talk show” for someone trolling Griz fansI'm probably not going to go in on DUIs when I'm trying to have a fun talk show.
Guess I am not even tracking. Are you saying you have to be in the particular BSC town to cover the biggest story in the BSC? I thought Skyline was the best company to cover all of the BSC. Why pull punches for the bubcats of all teams? And if the media in town would've pushed back, I would've covered that too, I just wasn't there.
Yeah, rico what did I tell you..believe me now, everything I said proved to be 100% spot on..He did write a great response, but you know as well as I do that no matter what he says I won't be good enough for some over here and we'll all know who they are..
Hey, just letting him know there are some over here that are just as well to ignore...you know it too.
You believe me now, didn't take long to be proven 100% correct.?..Colter wrote a great response. Your response didn’t help him. What are you trying to accomplish?
Hasn't Rico been saying he liked and supported Colter all along? I think you figured out that Rico was 100% spot on and started copying him.Yeah, rico what did I tell you..believe me now, everything I said proved to be 100% spot on..
Agreed with those guys being six that need to hit. Realistically, I don't actually have a clue how the Griz will be this season because so much is hitting reset. IF the transfers hit, and IF Ah Yat has made strides, and IF the defense can get right at nose tackle, they have a chance to beat anyone. But those are a lot of "ifs"What a weird thread haha.
How about back to the topic at hand....
Haley has the Griz preseason No. 8. I'd rank Montana ahead of Rhode Island and Illinois State for sure, mostly because of schedule and head coach.
How high would you rank Montana? I'd say the Griz need more transfers to "hit" than any other prospective national championship contender. If they do, the Griz will be very good.
I think the "essential six" are
Micah Harper
Diezel Wilkinson
Elijawah Tolbert
Hunter Peck
DJ Peevey
Peyton Wing
I think if four of six "hit" as good fits and great players, Montana will be good. If all six hit, Griz could be very good.
I appreciate the response, I truly do. That said, I fully believe it was a massive failure to simply allow msu to stonewall on what should have been the largest sports story in the state at the expense of protecting access.Sort of amazing the things that people glom on to....

As for the pod, I think everyone can safely chalk that up as an unmitigated disaster and move on.
