Covid Updates - Not Politics

Accident? China, at last count, had 1.42 Billion people. Perhaps they made a dry run and purposefully sacrificed a couple million of their own, just to gauge the effect of this created/manipulated virus on the world, specifically the response of the U.S. Now, they are down to 1.418 Billion people. Coincidence? Food for thought.

nah, they'd try it out in some poor outpost city with a mere million or two inhabitants. make it less likely that you'd hear about it, and it'd be easier to control the populace compared to very populated wuhan/hubei province. one of the (many) events the ccp is afraid of is mass dissatisfaction by many millions at the same time. much harder to control large groups, which is why none are really allowed in china - anytime someone or something gets "too big", the ccp cancels them, one way or another. often some trump up charge, or something like that, to make a potential 'leader' look bad.

Saw Jihn "sellout" Cena today. What a douche.

But, how bout Texas? That might set some folks on fire...

If said by a foreign actor in an apolitical way? Perhaps, but I doubt it. I bet most wouldn't really care. Like when my MIL calls a hotdog a sandwich.

Ha ha. But, not a sandwich. Nope

"Russia-Tied PR Firm Asked Influencers to Falsely Claim Pfizer Vax Killed Hundreds: Report

European influencers, bloggers, and YouTubers say they were contacted by a mysterious PR agency asking them to tell followers that the Pfizer vaccine is dangerous."

"European social-media influencers, bloggers, and YouTubers say they’ve been contacted by a mysterious PR agency asking them to tell followers that the Pfizer vaccine is dangerous and has killed hundreds of people. Popular French science YouTuber Léo Grasset posted what he says are screenshots of an email sent to him by supposedly London-based agency Fazze, which ask him to “tell [followers] that mainstream media ignores this theme” and to “act like you have the passion and interest in this topic.” In a tweet, Grasset described the budget for the influence campaign as “colossal.” Other popular social media influencers have reported being contacted by Fazze, which shut down its website on Tuesday. The Guardian reports that, per LinkedIn, Fazze’s management team is largely Russian, and that many employees formerly worked for another agency founded by a Russian entrepreneur. French media have also pointed to the similarities between Fazze’s talking points and those of the Twitter account for Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine."

Meanwhile, don't you dare refer to Taiwan as a country in passing if you're an actor from the US. I don't weigh in on China often, but, my goodness, their government is so insecure. If a Chinese actor called Alaska a beautiful country, I seriously doubt there would be any outrage.

i read previously that he's been studying mandarin, with a private tutor, for six or seven years. i just saw the apology, and his pronunciation is pretty bad. i don't know it sounds to somebody who doesn't know basic mandarin, but if you do, he comes off as a whiny little kid pleading to his mommy that he didn't do something bad. i watch a fair number of taiwanese 'dramadies' to work on my listening skills, and if you shrunk him down to a five year old he'd be pretty convincing as one who just got scolded by a parent, and is now being a sniveling child trying to get out of trouble.

Knicks announce that, if they advance in the playoffs, only vaccinated individuals will be eligible to buy tickets.

For Round 1, Knicks estimate that at least 10% of Madison Square Garden crowd was not vaccinated.

But that's around 90% that was. That's gotta be herd immunity in the Garden! What could possibly go wrong?

"Multiple accidental releases of dangerous viruses from highly secure labs have been recorded in the past. The SARS virus has escaped six times since being identified in 2003. The 1977 global flu pandemic is believed to have originated in the escape from an unknown lab of a specimen collected in the 1950s."

"‘Open Air’ Effect Gave the South a Break From Covid-19 Spring Surge

Scientists say more time spent outdoors helped slow transmission rates but return of hot weather raises concerns"

"Six months into the drive to inoculate the U.S. population against Covid-19, stark gaps have opened up between the states with the highest and lowest vaccination rates. But so far, states that have been slower to vaccinate haven’t paid a big price in outbreaks of new cases, thanks in part to what scientists call the open-air effect.

Many of the states with the lowest shares of people who have had at least one vaccine shot are located in the Deep South, including Mississippi, Georgia, Alabama and Arkansas, and avoided large outbreaks last spring, only to see cases surge in hot summer months. Most of these states also avoided a spike in cases during the first few months of this year, even as many northeastern states like Vermont, Massachusetts and New Hampshire, which now have some of the highest vaccination rates in the U.S., saw cases rise during the winter and early spring.

Residents in Southern states have largely faced a lower risk of transmission during the winter and spring months because they have been able to spend more time socializing in the open air where the virus disperses more easily, according to epidemiologists and research. And unlike their Northern counterparts, they haven’t had to use heating systems that dry out indoor air.
Dozens of studies have shown that the SARS-CoV-2 virus spreads less easily outdoors and in more humid settings.

Doctors and public-health officials worry, however, that as summer approaches, warm-weather states with lower vaccination rates could be vulnerable to a new round of Covid-19 outbreaks as the heat forces people to spend more time in dry, air-conditioned spaces.

Sorry. Our only two exports; hockey players and cold weather. Now it turns out at least one of those things was adding to your Covid woes.

no, being in close quarters with other people with the air conditioning on increases the chances of transmission.

nah, they'd try it out in some poor outpost city with a mere million or two inhabitants. make it less likely that you'd hear about it, and it'd be easier to control the populace compared to very populated wuhan/hubei province. one of the (many) events the ccp is afraid of is mass dissatisfaction by many millions at the same time. much harder to control large groups, which is why none are really allowed in china - anytime someone or something gets "too big", the ccp cancels them, one way or another. often some trump up charge, or something like that, to make a potential 'leader' look bad.
Sorry for the delayed response.
You have good insight to the bastards. One critical piece of the puzzle is missing. How many cities in China have direct international flights? CCP banned internal flights, hell locked down Wuhan in every aspect in life. So, the test would have to have direct flights to many countries, to spread the virus worldwide. The lab is there, so the 'accident' excuse would be a fall back excuse. It is apparent the facility was weaponizing the virus. Whistle blower Dr. Wenliang is dead. Dr. Li-Meng Yan, Wuhan viral researcher has claimed China purposefully released the virus. She fled to the US. Big tech muzzles her.

wuhan is a big city, in a very populated province. it has an international airport with direct flights all over the world. the ccp stopped all internal travel to and from there, but allowed international flights to continue long enough for many to travel across the world. that is how it spread.

Didn't CDC just come out with "new" guidance that showed that whether it was 6' or 60', it really didn't make any difference in transmission rates?

close quarters, like being at home, or in an office, that sort of thing. places where people don't stand six feet apart, etc...

here's the best essay i've found on the really bad "science" involved in shaping the public perception against the lab leak theory. among other issues, it goes go into some minor, but understandable, scientific detail in derailing the arguments in opinion pieces by groups of 'scientists' in prominent science/medical journals. it also goes into detail about the major conflict of interest by the organizer of one of the letters, that clown peter daszak, who was also in the damning interview about the wuhan virology institute found by taiwan, and who has significant ties to the institute, and by extension, the ccp.

Since last November I have told everyone who asked that because of my infection I am covid-19 immune for life. Scolded that the CDC said we don't know beyond 4 months, I said I will go with the known immunology science of lifetime immunity (now the science study results), not the political hacks. What we really don't know is how long vaccine immunity lasts, but the political hacks not only tell me I need the vaccine, vaccine immunity is better than natural immunity. Yeah, right.

What's also unknown is how many of us natural immunes there are running around, because so many of the infected showed no symptoms. If this weekend showed anything it is that the country has reached saturation on the disease and is doing what they want, much to the chagrin of one particular party. Oh how they hate the non-obedient.

I am ready to pack shoulder to shoulder in the north end zone, high five anyone and everyone on each score, including the cupped hand yellers and two finger whistlers,, and share tugs off contraband bottles of belly fire! I will promise not to rub the shoulders or sniff the hair of 11 year old girls, boys or trans of either or tell them they look 19. Somebody else claimed that first. Go Griz!
