They limited the plays he ran. Now as a starter he has the whole playbook.

The whole playbook:
Run left
Run right
Run center
Chuck it up left
Chuck it up right
Chuck it up center

I kid but I have never seen so many 50/50 balls thrown in my life where they are taken by his receivers.

Absolutely true. Someone commented on another thread that they were envious of the cats opening up the playbook and how it was refreshing versus what we saw with Rosie. After watching that game, I can tell you there was no imagination. I saw the same qb draw run at least a half a dozen times or more. 50/50 balls galore that luckily went the way of MSU and a lot of zone running plays. The SDSU offensive coordinator had more ingenuity in his pinky than the bobcat offense showed.

Tommy is tough and you could see his drive and composure every time they panned to him with his helmet off on the sideline. He is Butte tough. However, even he was getting up a bit slower after some of the shots he took in the second half. The cats are lucky it’s a 4 game stretch they are breaking him out for with this run heavy offense. I do not see it sustainable for a full season, just as it wasn’t for Troy Anderson without having some serious injury issues.

The Cats did what they had to do to win. The SDSU OC who you say had more ingenuity in his pinky failed to get anything done in the second half. Yes, the Cats were pretty basic, but they executed and got the job done on offense without their best offensive player. They will be in Frisco. Not SDSU or the Griz. I will take it!

If we had thrown up more 50/50 balls to Flowers, Akem and Grossman I think we’d have done better offensively. gotta trust your receivers, especially when they have the size advantage….

I'm actually blown away that we never really seemed to do this that much this season.

My guess is because teams did not respect the run game and played coverages that would have made 50/50 balls into 2-on-1s, but I don't actually know. Probably didn't help having a gun-shy junior/freshman who didn't have confidence in what he was looking at.

I’m not knocking their game plan. They executed. Just as with Sam Houston when your team gets a lead they lean on their defense which is their strength. It’ll be interesting to see if NDSU plays into this like they did with JMU and end up in a tight game. If NDSU gets a jump I don’t see this offense opening it up and slinging it to catch up from a large deficit. It’s a test we haven’t seen yet with Tommy and this version of the offense.

And SDSU did nothing in the second half? They pretty much went drive for drive with the cats in the second half. The crucial play being the interception that #6 threw behind the receiver. That short field swung the game. I would say the jackrabbits crumbled on the execution front in the second half. The play calling was still much more creative and more than enough to move the ball on your defense. It’ll be interesting to see how he does in Idaho. I don’t think he will have the same talent or be able to recruit the same talent as SDSU, but he will be more competitive than Petrino I believe. Hopefully much less of an a$$.

Hey remember in the old days when everything was better? Oh except it wasn't. But still....The teams were better, men were men, the gays weren't all in your face about it, minorities knew their place, and every team in the Big Sky played each other. We didn't need to move up then because children respected their parents, folks kneeled for the anthem (or didn't I can't remember which is bad). A guy had time to sit in his shack outside Lincoln and enact real change. Damn socialist liberals with their farm subsidies and old age pensions.

There was a time when we used to take them out back and beat them with a hose, but now they have their damned unions. People used to buy stamps at the post office and a top sirloin was a fine steak. Wives would iron our short-sleeved dress shirts while we watched our progrums on the tube. Early to bed, early to rise, salt of the Earth, good kids, strong families, Elks Club, no bike helmets, bourbon on pacifiers. Kids now are soft. I blame immigrants.*

*Before I get canceled, I'm joking.

Immigrants! Even when it was the bears I knew it was the immigrants.

SDSU travel during this playoff run was ridiculous! The second half they must have been running on empty. Far question to all. So when do the upper tier of the Big Sky & MV join forces and go FBS? Could it happen?

FBS is not taking new conferences, but dreaming is allowed on eGriz.

When Tommy throws them we call em 80/20

Lol..who cares about that smoke-filled exhibition game. Even the sun shines on a dog’s ass some days.

My reference was meant to be in regards to
the playoffs…

Remember later in the season when the Griz nearly pulled this one off in their 31 point loss? Brady Gustafson, proclaimed by many on this board to be the next Carson Wentz (high NFL draft pick), had himself one hell of a game!

Who knows though…maybe a Griz team coached by Big Game Bobby (better known as the Marv Levy of the FCS) with his propensity to shine on the main stage (0-3 FCS championship game pedigree), would have had a different outcome.

Yes, I do remember that loss. But it doesn't surprise me that YOU would forget a loss that directly contradicts your ridiculous assumption.

Shit man….Indiana State, USD…they found ways to win in the regular season against the Bison

I am going to ignore last spring for the obvious reasons….again, my reference was meant to be in regards to the playoffs. And no, I don’t think the Griz have produced a single team that could been placed onto the field, outside of the 1995 Griz team, against any of the Bison championship teams, and prevented them from winning in the playoffs.

1.) Oh yes they do. That’s why college gameday has been to NDSU twice, and also featured them on the road, while Montana fans have had to resort to begging, pleading, social media posts, spelling out “Gameday” on the M, and having former famous alumni and US senators beg on social media for someone to care at ESPN. I think they will get their wish next year and get to have the helmet on set in Bozeman if the Cats win the championship.

2.) Dude give it up. Carson Wentz is a pro bowl QB, -
Super bowl champion and this year has a 23-6 TD to Int ratio on a super bowl contending team. If you want, I can mail you a Wentz jersey or something. We all know you have a weird crush on him.

Wow, look at you guys! Nah, nobody cares. Lame. The smell in there has to be so terrible. Just 80 degrees of gravy butt breath from all 12,000 fatties. Ugh.

I think it is kinda funny how much UM fans have begged and pleaded to host
ESPN College Gameday.

How dense are you, nobody on this site gives a dime's worth of mucus what you think. Your team is playing ours isn't, great. Go on your own site and jerk off other guys about the Bison and how great Fargo is. I'm from dead flat, boring as hell Saskatchewan and even I can make fun of that outhouse of a small town. You think Bozeman is a shit hole? It's 100% better than Fargo and I wouldn't force my worst enemy to spend a night in Bozeman. PS: I took out all the f-bombs but feel free to toss them where ever you pause to look up a two syllable word.

I disagree. Both 08 and 09 teams would beat this years team, this spring’s team, and probably last year’s team as well. Your last few haven’t been as dominant as they were in the early 2010’s.

Good point. And speaking of opening a playbook, let’s not be the pot calling the kettle black, Jesus. When we threw to a TE it seemed like a gadget play this year. I’ll bet we ran off tackle on first down 80% of the time. Sometimes it worked. But…

Excuse me

When did I compare Bozeman to Fargo?
When did I call Bozeman a shit hole ?

Cat fans are truly insufferable. But I was watching the local news and what I saw was TRULY the insufferable of the insufferables. There was Choate on the field hobnobbing with the players all buddy buddy, huggy hyggy, basking in the glow which he could not attain. This is the same guy who slipped out of town in the middle of the night without the balls to say bye bye to the same guys he's now hugging. :puke:

Dude probably wants all the credit for their run, too. Imagine going from Coach Ron Ash, who literally wrote The Book on class, to that snake oil salesman. Ron would've shown up and given all credit to the new staff and then helped an old lady across the street before paying for her grandson's tuition. The other probably went to a titty bar and kicked a dog on his way out.

Choate’s son is a linebacker on the team. Of course he is going to be there…. On the field…
