The other co-owner is great too. One or both of them work the floor almost every night. The Depot has 3 adjacent but completely connected places to eat and drink (assuming they have now opened the formal dining room from covid days). The Deck is a great place to look around, mingle, drink, eat and watch sports. I assume that various UM teams still take their recruits/families to the Depot, at least they used to.
1889 has good food, including steak, but doesn't have the larger friendly atmosphere full of Griz fans. And, as noted, is very expensive.
JD Quinn takes his Griz teammates, and GrizPony and me, to the Depot on every Homecoming. JD is a great and fun guy, has a nice job, and is married to a great woman and hotshot lawyer whom he met at UM.
If you don't care about atmosphere, then get a Costco steak and find a BBQ.
Note to self....avoid the Depot.
