Come on Gub....

Prediction from NY Times:

"Linemen (9): George Karlaftis, Chris Jones, Mike Pennel, Mike Danna, Tershawn Wharton, Felix Anudike-Uzomah, Derrick Nnadi, Neil Farrell, Malik Herring

No changes to this group, which means the Chiefs should try to trade for another lineman, especially if they can acquire a viable rotational defensive end. Still, they are in a much better situation than last year because Jones is expected to play against the Ravens in the season opener.

The major absence is defensive end Charles Omenihu, who is still on the physically unable to perform list while he recovers from the torn right ACL he sustained in January. The earliest Omenihu could return to the field is in late October.

Anudike-Uzomah, who showed small improvements throughout camp, didn’t have a stellar preseason. Farrell should have a bigger role this season if Nnadi sees a significant decline in his snap count."

I am probably missing players... But here is who is on teams as of today from MSU and UM, and where is looks like all the "Projections" have them ending up

MSU-
Ty Okada : Seattle (Practice squad)
Daniel Hardy : Chicago (Makes 53)
Lewis Kidd : Indianapolis (Cut)
Alex Singleton : Denver (Makes 53)
Troy Andersen : Atlanta (Makes 53)

UM-
Patrick O'Connell : Seattle (Practice Squad)
Samori Touré : Green Bay (Cut??? But not a lot of info out there)
Alex Gubner : Kansas City (Cut/Practice squad... But again, not a ton out there from Chiefs)
Dylan Cook : Pittsburg (Makes 53)

*Edit to add Cook

OK we know Gub got waived, anything on any of these other guys?

Studying the chiefs other possible tackle which is Fabien Lovett it appears the chiefs signed him as a UDFA and paid him guaranteed money. So where Lovett ends up is a question. If he makes the roster or is waived. If waived he will be picked up and the chiefs loose him. Gubner will have a chance then to make the pratice squad. If Lovett stays then Gubner is out unless the chiefs cut a tackle which is doubtful. This seems to be the game the chiefs are playing from my perpective.

I think O'Connell will be fine. Doubt he even goes to practice squad. He played a lot vs the Browns, was the leading tackle. Announcers kept giving him props constantly. He was extremely effective and was calling plays, telling guys where to go. I think he's a lock for the 53. I'd be surprised if he's not.

Stealers released 3 o-lineman today. Seahawks have added 3 linebackers in last 7-10 days. Don't think the Packers have done much yet. Gubner's early release may signal that they aren't interested in signing him to the practice squad.

Lewis Kidd was cut by San Fran (I thought he was still with Indy, but was wrong). Most teams will cut players today... Teams have till 2:00 (Our time) to get roster to 53 players. For perspective, the Seahawks have 92 players on the roster right now (according to their tracker). So they will have to cut 39 players in the next 5 hours. That 92 includes For sure players on the team (lets say 30 players) so 39 of the 62 remaining players will be cut. 12ish of those will go to practice squad. This just shows how hard it really is to make a roster.

Let's see, someone posted that there was some podcast in which some still unnamed source compared Gubner to Jared Allen. I asked for the name, but I don't recall getting a reply. Again, WHO was this genius?

From the first page of this thread in the Youtube vid mthoops posted at about the 10:30 mark. He said Gubs reminded him of Allen because they were both little known, high motor, violent tacklers that went to college in the same region. The guy also called Gubner "Goobner" so he might not be the brightest lightbulb in the knife drawer...
