Will Montana start prep football on time? I used to be in the know with the comings and goings of the MHSA but am out of the loop now. My gut tells me football will be pushed back to spring and basketball will remain on schedule with reduced venue-specific spectator capacities (families sit together but everyone else socially distances with masks required). Like I said though - no inside information, but rather trying to make sense of the tea leaves.
 
High school football in Montana is still on schedule....until it’s not. Coaches are preparing for a fall schedule & nothing official for any changes.

I hope for kids they can play. I probably feel for those kids more than the college kids. College kids will get another year of eligibility if they choose. This will be it playing football fo the majority of those kids.

Although it's not directly college/high school football, it's related and gives an indicator about where decision-makers are at.

The LA Unified School District, the second largest school district in the country, will continue with online-only instruction when they start Aug 18. Many districts have said that if school is online only due to the virus conditions, there is no way they can continue with sports.

Following Monday’s in-person meeting in Birmingham with representatives from all 14 Southeastern Conference programs in attendance, we finally have some news from the league office.

The start of several fall sports have been postponed by the SEC — although SEC football is still scheduled to start on time.

Big Ten will play only conference games this Fall
PAC-12 Will play only conference games this Fall

IVY Has cancelled in Fall, Possible move to Spring 2021
Patriot League has cancelled Fall Sports
ALL Junior College Leagues moved to the Spring


Morehouse College (Atlanta) will not play Fall Sports

How critical is next 2 weeks? Mark Emmert told NCAA Council if decision had to be made now NCAA fall championships (soccer, cross country, volleyball & FCS football) likely would be canceled, sources told @Stadium. FBS officials have said they won’t make decision before late July

I sure do not see the situation looking any better (if not worse) in the next few weeks. Looking more and more like no fall football for the Griz. Sad

SOURCES: The CAA conference is expected to announce tomorrow that the league will not be playing football this fall.
