You know that the "USC" in this thread isn't the University of Southern Colorado, right?
Yes Captain Obvious. There's no question that he is going to move up to a bigger program, the time and place are the only questions. The current mess in the La Brea Tar Pits isnt' the answer.
The Galen Center at USC is a damn nice arena. USC is a football school first and foremost, but has made some pretty good progress in bball. Their problems are not unique to the elite academic schools of the PAC. Those in metro areas, like Washington, SC, Cal play their games generally during an extended traffic rush...and, the elite schools attract thousands of students from over seas that have no clue as to what American universities offer, not to mention the tough demands of academia. Also, there are far more things to do than attend a basketball game. Times have changed. The universities have changed. Most are attracting highly motivated kids with a focus on being number one in the class...not conducive to a full stadium, and with that student comes the cultural interests of fine arts...Stanford just dedicated one of the greatest halls on any campus...that would not have happened in my time. Simply put, basketball is having a hard time drawing students on a regular basis. They will turn up for a "big" game..not like football. LA is no longer the LA most of people who hate it think it is. I can decide between skiing today, or the beach, or just sit around the pool...or not....it is not hard to recruit talent or coaches or faculty to schools here..so, not sure what the negative would be about being an "LA guy"....I feel lucky to live in the area...
