Coach Kennedy new 4 year contract

Guy still had a lot of faults, some of which were his inability to do what BK is doing right now in terms of PR and recruiting. Never said he was a bad coach, but he was far from perfect.
No one said he was perfect. BK is doing a nice job. Let's see if BK can manage games and win. I'm not concerned about that, but I don't chose and praise a coach based on what BK has done so far. That's part of the equation, but it's not a large part for me.

No, Kennedy inherited the team exactly as I said. 13-2 and 3 in nation. Players leave every year, as do coaches. Kennedy brought coaches he wanted. He returns great rb, qb and receiver. Best rb and perhaps best qb in nation. Some great D players including lb’s.
I didn't say there weren't great players returning. There are great returning players every year. But the amount of turnover (especially D) and coaches is unusual, especially for the Griz. He didn't inherit a team that was #3 in the nation. He inherited a team that WAS #3 in the nation...but will look materially different this year than last both in form and function.

Like you said, he inherited a team that was no. 3 in the nation. That's what I said. Not one that was 6-5 There is always turnover. The BK team is very similar to what Bobby would have had. No one left in the coach portal. A few after spring ball. I assume those had been cut or told they wouldn't play.

How is the offense going to look different? Yes, on the D to some extent. Maybe a signifiant extent.

We can compare some off the field offseason stuff and so far, he is better at playing the PR game than Hauck was, in the aggregate anyway. What BK is doing right now in terms of promoting Grizzly Football, recruiting, leveraging social media, meeting with fans and QB club is actually quite impressive. He is really burning the midnight oil to make sure he is doing everything he can to do a good job, and that is very publicly evident in a way it was not with Hauck. Not saying he was not just as good, but he was perceived totally differently. To me he always expected stuff without having to ask for it or put in the PR work (shaking hands and kissing babies). Again, perception sometimes is reality, and the way BK is perceived, in my opinion, is that he really wants to be here and will do anything he can to make it work, and I really never got that feeling from Hauck 2.0.

Did you get that feeling from Hauck 1.0?

I didn't have to. It's just that you set it up so well, it was hard not to dunk it. :ROFLMAO:
I suspect its more of the influence of a reflexive Norwegian Lutern Bachelor Farmer mindset, molded by, don't cha know, the casserole brigade Karens' willingness to extend "Minnesota nice" to liars, cheats, thieves, murderers and those who don't support the Twinkies or the Vikes. Gosh durn it!

As you expressed earlier (in this thread I think) there are concerns about the O-line, (purely in my mind from a "we haven't seen what they can do" standpoint)...I definitely think the talent is there. D will likely look significantly different with a new DC, new DL, and likely new system and not the 3-3-5...I went through the coaching changes several weeks ago with another poster and it was like 5-6 different coaches than last year...Kennedy moves from WR to HC, Justin Green gone, OL coach gone, Tim Hauck gone, Eric Sanders now DC, New DL coach Jaylen Johnson, New OL coach Brent Meyers, new RB coach Dominic Daste, New Safeties coach Wes Nurse. So for those scoring at home that's:

New HC
New DC
New DL coach
New OL coach
New Safeties Coach
New RB coach
New Recruiting Coordinator
Dalton Sneed is here as an Offensive Assistant
I suspect Tanner Sneed (Offensive Assistant) and Brayton Boyer (ST Assistant) are new as well (but no info given on the UM website)

That seems like a LOT of turn over in one season from a coaching standpoint. But hey, maybe that's just me.

So what you are saying is BK has fewer new coaches and better talent than when BH came back for the second go.

Perhaps. But Bobby was great with alums and supporters that made bigger and consistent contributions, provided support at the right places and with the right people, and were important to him and the program. He had a large and very loyal following. And he didn’t like or respect some people and it showed at times. He was not a kiss ass. Bobby is and was a great guy from where I sat. BK probably is too.

I believe there was more turnover when Bobby returned.
