I think anyone who witnessed the Evergreen State or Northern Iowa games knows why Holst was fired. They nearly lost (and Hsould have lost) to Evergreen state (an NAIA team) at home, and were down by 40+ points int eh first 1/2 to Northern Iowa, adn the game wasn't even that close. Holst seeemed like a good guy, but he and his teams are inconsistant. Look at getting blwon out twice by Montana State, the last time at home, tehn beating them and Eastern Washington at teh tournament. If his players played liek that all season they would have had 20+ wins, and peopel would have felt good about the team. You know it is time for a coaching change when former bobcat players wonder what happened to Montana, and talk about how competitive the games used to be, and how sad the games are now, and they are right. Think about teh Bobcat football team over the past 15 years - is this where we want Grizzley basketball headed?
What I think fans expect from the Montana basketball program is to easily beat the lower level teams, be competitive with the mid and upper level teams, and rarely lose at home. This is how Grizzley basketball used to be. Now you feel lucky when they win.
